Normal people hate boring rook and pawn endgames too. Id much rather have fun playing wild lines throwing pieces away in a mating attack rather than trading off and grinding out a one pawn edge in a boring pawn and king endgame. Probably end up drawing it via stalemate or getting flagged in a completely won position.

His style has such a profound impact on human players, it rattles them to their core. The complexity of this game is just next level. I don't remember the last time I had to keep in mind so many possible attack formations to not get checkmated and beeing defended so well! But spectacular attacks and defence together, this was like the final moments of a big/intense final football match.

Morphy was a rarity. He had a natural brilliant aptitude for chess. I read a story about a civil war general, who asked a friend to set him up with a strong chess player in the area he was visiting, since he fancied himself a good player. The person who showed up, was a boy around 13 or younger. The General thought he was the butt of some joke, but the young boy, who played against him was none other than Paul Morphy, who had no trouble beating him.
@wot_hog2 жыл бұрын
@@kevinmalone3210 Yes, that was in 1846, before the Civil War, and Morphy's opponent was General Winfield Scott, who was on his way down to Mexico at the time.
