Actually, when Agadmator said to find a move, I spotted it almost right away because that's the only move that can save the queen so it's easy. However, Keres would have had to see that before deciding that capturing the knight was safe. One of the things overlooked in Tal's career is that he qualified to play for the title after winning a candidates tournament. After that FIDE went to candidates matches and Tal never qualified again. Tal was better in tournament play than he was in match play. Few if any can match his tournament results.

In my experience, strictly as an amateur chess player, it's one thing to outplay your opponent and be in a somewhat "won" position, and proceed from there and actually checkmate your opponent. After you get the winning position, you cant mentally let down on your level of play. Your opponent goes into a defensive strategy. You could make the claim that a winning position isnt necessarily going to be an easy win.

I would like to see you analyze Bronstein-Tal 1968 Soviet Team Cup. Tal played a Falkbeer, yet is was Bronstein who played a "Tal type sac". That game had a few mistakes, but it was interesting to see how Tal would defend a Tal attacking position.

Wow. Tal was casually brutal. Keres had no idea what was coming (and neither did I - that goes without saying). The queen and two rooks somehow took absolute control. 'The best defense is a strong offense' has always been the motto.

6:52 That's not the only option. After Bxg4, Nxg4, Rfxg4!, Qxg4, there's Rg1, and black have to sacrifice the queen. I know it's the queen for the two rooks, but black pawn structure is not impresing anyone, not to mention the dangerous white passed h pawn. The engine says it's still close to equal.

Knight sacs are the most powerful because its the lowest valued piece, so easiest to give up. But it has a complicated movement, like being able to fork, and creates a number of complications the other side has to contend with. You often can sac a knight and gain back a pawn and ruin the opponents pawn structure, and even maintain tempo in some cases. And of course Tal, like Magnus and Fisher, was a veritable magician with his knights
