Magnus even applauded Pragg and showed him a thumbs up at the end of the game! Pragg is truly a scintillating talent, looking forward to these two playing each other over the years to come.

@@peyton7344 nah he wouldn't accuse a good player of cheating. Only people who have a history of cheating and suddenly jump 200 elo in a short time and beat all the top players out of nowhere. Two very different players.

@@peyton7344 I don't know if Hans actually cheated but you must admit, him beating Magnus even thought there's a 200 Elo difference, his meteoric rise, even though he only started becoming good fairly late (in relation to other top GMs) and especially his explanations and interviews after the games are suspicious. Not condemning but definitely suspicious!

@@somedude3236 Totally! The scores from the official fide-page absolutely prove that. Look at the impossible rise of Niemann in contrast to some other strong players at a similar age: Niemann: +162 2021-Mar 2526 2022-Sep 2688 Gukesh: +163 2021-Mar 2563 2022-Sep 2726 Arjun: +166 2021-Mar 2559 2022-Sep 2725 This is just insane!

Does Magnus Carlsen have something against Americans? Hans Niemann is American, like Wesley So and Bobby Fischer. Wesley So 'completely obliterated' Magnus Carlsen in the 9LX world championship 13.5-2.5 and 4-0. Bobby Fischer invented 9LX. Hans Niemann is American (like Wesley So, Beth Harmon and Bobby Fischer). But consider the non-Americans of the next generation: Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is not American: Magnus gives Pragg today round of APPLAUSE after his Stunning performance (Julius Baer Generation Cup 2022) Andrey Esipenko is not American: Magnus 'didn't say anything when got beaten by Esipenko'. (Image here.) Alireza Firouzja is not American: Don't really have anything to put here except Magnus and the Alireza thingy of world blitz 2019: Initially, Magnus talks on own time after Alireza moves. That's fine. But later after moving and then punching clock Magnus still continues to make noise. Additional: Magnus cheated against Daniel 'Danya' Naroditsky on lichess. Magnus described Hikaru Nakamura as merely 'decent'. Eric Rosen beat Magnus in 9LX. Magnus condescendingly asks Andrea Botez how knights move. St Louis Chess Club is in the US. Note: This post is not (completely) serious.

Which is better for your mental health? Quote 2: Chess960: The winner is the more agile mind. Chess: The winner is the biggest nerd. Note: This post is not (completely) serious.

it was nice to see that frustration on MC, its what you get for playing this. I wish Pragg had found the Ke4 move. It seems pretty intuitive. Centralize the king, bringing it closer to your passed pawns, and attack that rook which hardly has any squares. But hey, i'm sitting on a sofa and agad stopped the game there and asked me to find the winning move.

As a possible response to Agamators “winning move” What about rxd3? Followed by cxd3-Re2#. Then the white king has to either block his own pawns, or let the black king into the position. If Kxd3, -Rh6, f5, Rxd6! Doubling blacks pawns. The black king could hold this while his h pawn ran for it, or if Praggs king went for the h pawn, Magnus would have plenty of time to gobble the rest.

I fully support that statement. He's congratulated basically everyone who has ever beaten him while he was world champion and well before that, a decade of good sportsmanship. Hans is the exception for lots of reasons, including the fact that he admitted to cheating, and then was banned for additional games cheated he didn't admit to, and doesn't understand the game he beat magnus in. If I used an engine to beat Magnus, I would not be able to answer questions about how I did it. That's Hans, although he is legitimately some kind of grandmaster on top of it.

07:25 I was thinking to do exchange sacrifice Rxd3 for the bishop with check, because bishop + knight with 3 pawns advantages are definitely winning against 2 rooks! But with Rxc3, you'll at least win the bishop and 2 more pawns and the knight is threatened to be taken, and the pass e and f pawns can't compare with black's future pass pawns (a and b pawns), Prag can only choose between ab pawns or the pass h pawn, or march his e and f pawns, but it won't be easy because the king and rook is there to stop them
