I recently spent two weeks in jail in the time of protests in Iran. There, a guy made chess board and pieces out of paper. Though it was a difficult time in jail and we didn't know where this goes, chess really helped me stay in tune. And thanks to this channel, I was able to beat lots of guys there.

Hooray!!!! Does Magnus Carlsen have something against Americans? Hans Niemann (+ Hans' coach) is American. Wesley So 'completely obliterated' Magnus Carlsen in the 9LX world championship 13.5-2.5 and 4-0. Bobby Fischer invented 9LX. Hans Niemann is American (like Wesley So, Beth Harmon and Bobby Fischer - the 4 of them are American prodigies with dark childhoods). But consider the non-Americans of the next generation: Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is not American: Magnus gives Pragg today round of APPLAUSE after his Stunning performance (Julius Baer Generation Cup 2022) Andrey Esipenko is not American: Magnus 'didn't say anything when got beaten by Esipenko'. Alireza Firouzja is not American: Don't really have anything to put here except Magnus and the Alireza thingy of world blitz 2019: Initially, Magnus talks on own time after Alireza moves. That's fine. But later after moving and then punching clock Magnus still continues to make noise. Additional: Magnus cheated against Daniel 'Danya' Naroditsky on lichess. Magnus described Hikaru Nakamura as merely 'decent'. Eric Rosen beat Magnus in 9LX. Magnus condescendingly asks Andrea Botez how knights move. St Louis Chess Club is in the US. Also there was that thing with Maurice Ashley. Updates: 1 Is Magnus against Americans (joke theory)? Kostya Kavutskiy replies in Twitch. (2022Sep) 2 'Magnus, like most Scandinavians, probably feels like America is a bit of a barbaric country.' - NM John Chernoff aka zugaddict from lichess and reddit (moderator of r/TournamentChess ) aka GargleBlaster from chesscom told me in chat in 2022Sep. When Wesley So or Bobby Fischer accuse people of cheating, we listen. When Magnus Carlsen accuses, we laugh. Magnus is a cheater too. Magnus was never the world champion. Wesley has been the world champion since 2019. Wesley will beat Magnus in Iceland in 2022Oct. Magnus sucks. Wesley rules. Magnus may be the best currently, but Wesley is the most talented currently. Magnus lost 4-0 actually 13.5-2.5 to Wesley in 9LX . Chess = great = a combination of theory and talent 9LX = pure talent Talent is how good you are when there's no theory. Looks like Magnus is good only for openings. Turns out Magnus is a talentless patzer who crumbles without opening prep. PATHETIC. Note: Patzer means extremely good at openings but sucks at middlegames and endgames. So much for greatest endgame player of all time ey? Magnus is maybe a GOAT but THE GOAT? Please. How can you be THE GOAT when you're TALENTLESS? saynoto2900 Wesley told Hikaru in stream that 50-70 years 9LX will replace chess. See my vids if you don't believe me. Wesley said in 2018 interview that Bobby or Garry is GOAT. Even if Magnus is GOAT, Magnus is definitely not MTOAT. Don't tell me about 2nd place. 2nd place in 9LX is pathetic for a 4x world chess champion esp 1 who later became 5x world chess champion. 9LX removes openings, so Magnus should be STRONGER not LESS STRONG. Yet Magnus lost 13.5-2.5 to Wesley and didn't get a single win. Why?!?!?!!!! Magnus is a coward because: The 9LX world championship in Iceland doesn't have a candidates the same way the last 4 world chess championships do. Magnus had the privilege to defend against ONLY 1 OPPONENT each of the last 4 times. Here, there isn't like a tournament / a series of tournaments and then the unique winner will face Wesley. Rather Wesley and Magnus will play others in a tournament. Basically Wesley has to play the 9LX candidates to retain the world 9LX title while Magnus never had to play the candidates the last 4 times! If Magnus isn't a coward then Magnus should complain about this! Why the Hell should we accept a new champion esp if it's Magnus if they become champion without beating Wesley? Imagine a round robin of just Wesley Magnus Nepo and Fabi. Imagine they all draw except 1 game where Magnus beats Nepo. Then Magnus out-scores Wesley to become world 9LX champion without actually beating Wesley? PATHETIC! ABSURD! REPREHENSIBLE! COWARDLY! saynoto2900 Bobby Fischer was on top for only a short period of time because FIDE and Anatoly Karpov (no offense Sergey!) were cowards who ran away from Bobby. See? It's happening again. FIDE and Magnus are being cowards running away from Wesley. 9LX saynoto2900 Magnus cheated with David Howell against Danya naroditsky 1 - in the lichess thing. 2 - in relationships. Lol. Anyway Magnus also cheated in world blitz 2019 in distracting alireza. Also Magnus cheated nepo with the knight touch move thing and then said 'do better' as part of gaslighting the reporter. Magnus is like the cheaters tigran V petrosian and tigran L petrosian and is unlike the HONEST people Wesley so and Bobby Fischer. I guess 9LX players have more integrity than chess players. Google "magnus carlsen gaslighting" Quote 1: After playing Chess960, I realise how mentally unwell chess players become the more they play it. It wasn't like a big victory where Gukesh outplayed Magnus from the opening until the end. Yeah, but still understanable. Win is a win. And if you win against Magnus even when your game is poor, it is still considered "Ruthless Play"
@adrianus69282 жыл бұрын
Two clarifications: First, Magnus wasn't dominating but he had the advantage and a better position before that ...Re8 move, but thats why listening to what the engines say is oversimplifying the fact that are positions where just one move (or even just one line that can be several moves) mantains the edge for the player who is "wining" or "much better" according to the engines. Also, although is not the case that Magnus' opponents are dominating, most of the time they are playing very well, but Magnus errs less than them and also takes opportunities more often when they blunder or make an impresition, so in this level of chess is about who commits the first mistake and who takes advantage of said mistake, at least in most of the cases. The first comment was about a blitz game that Magnus and Agad had online some mounths ago, where Magnus did domain the entire game and won. In fact he was playing hand-brain with a friend, which by his standars was decreasing a little his level. That's why Antonio (agad) had his "vengeance" on Magnus with that joke.

Love seeing Magnus have a hard time! Used to be impartial for the most part, just wanted to see interesting games. Ever since the to GMS say Hans cheated OTB for some time, I'm always suspicious. I'm not accusing anyone, but anytime king Magnus loses, or any major underdog wins, I start thinking how easy it was for Hans. I already blocked some Chess channels, because listening to them has changed my view on Chess, for the worse. I don't enjoy it as much anymore:( I used to admire great looking games. I may be a noob, but the thought of anal beads is always in the front of my mind after any of the spectacular wins.

Is there a particular reason people tend to disfavor queenside castling? I always thought that the reason people didn't castle queenside as much is because you need to move the queen in addition to the knight and bishop. However, I've seen many instances on this channel in which a player can castle queenside on their move, but castling kingside requires moving one (or even two!) pieces... and yet they move the pieces and castle kingside. In this game, for instance, Gukesh could castle queenside after Magnus plays b5 (1:50), while the bishop is blocking kingside castling on f1, yet Gukesh ends up castling kingside. What's even stranger to me is that, in this instance, Gukesh's kingside is more open than his queenside! I see it often enough that it's basically a trend, and I don't know if I'm missing something.
@GeraldM_inNC2 жыл бұрын
It's hard to put it into words. I actually like castling queenside, in order to throw my pawns directly at the opponent's king, but I lose queenside far more often than I do kingside. Part of it is that the A2 pawn becomes an Achilles Heel, but there's more to it.

best part of the video 10:56 "again compliments of the e6 pawn." hahahah that pawn makes all the difference. it cost Magnus the game. how in the world did the pawn got there?! this game shows the power of having an advanced isolated pawn. Magnus failed to calculate this one properly. he traded too quickly or allowed a bad trade to happen. ok it is a rapid game, still we are talking about "the world champion." you don't let your opponent land an advanced pawn for nothing. you either see it or you are playing very bad. probably Magnus thought that the pawn would be too weak and that eventually it will fall? he might have thought that, but he also probably rushed to attack too quickly. notice how he was pushing his queen in attacking mode, sitting in the middle of the board on e5 from which position it has greatest power and flexibility as it has lots of scope. normally this type of positions, being so crowded and complicated, present interesting tactical play. something was bound to give and you can almost feel it. for a moment it looked like white was losing something and since black was attacking everywhere. Magnus went for that b2 pawn right away, weakening the back of his domain. he left his king unguarded and had a single rook to defend against back rank checkmate. but the rook was also overloaded with the job of attacking white's e6 pawn and preventing its promotion. white hence saw the weaknesses in black's formation and immediately went for blood! by the way, i paused the video and did find the winning move queen b6. did you guys and girls find it also? i immediately perceived all the following sequences leading up to mate, the whole idea of rook takes knight, and if rook takes rook, then follows queen d8 check, rook e8, queen x rook mate. so yes that was easy once you have discovered the winning move of queen b6. but why Magnus failed to see this? who knows. this game deserves a more in depth analysis, i think. people can learn from this game. by the way people, this type of position where you have lots of pieces crowding the center and a centralized queen usually hint at such possibilities like "queen trap," so Magnus' sense of danger failed him this time. he was so caught up with trying to outsmart his opponent that he totally forgot that his queen might be trapped. by the time he realizes this, it is too late and, of course, the idea of losing this way catches him by total surprise. what really caused Magnus to lose sight of what his opponent Gukesh was up to? well, it is easy, he was deeply looking at that b2 pawn, aiming with both his rook on a2 and queen on e5, also trying to catch white's king with some surprise attack and at the same time seeking to remove that e6 advanced pawn. so an overloaded queen. by the way, Magnus did had a lovely knight perfectly position on e4, this set up of queen hiding behind the e4 knight also might created a blindness that made Magnus feel confident that his queen was in no danger of being trapped at all. observe for those of you interested in more analysis that this was mainly a "knights game" and no bishops remained, which is a bit weird since in the majority of games there is usually one or more bishops playing till the end. so the knights prove to be just as dangerous if they are properly handled and mobilized to key positions from where they can exert the most pressure or threats. white's king was never in any danger, it did not experienced a single check. remember that earlier Magnus had played a similar idea of positioning his queen behind a knight on c5, which allows for a sort of pin by white's queen that was scoping the line of g1 to a7. so we see this queen behind knight theme happening twice in this game. it shows that such themes are not ok and can lead to trouble if the player isn't familiar with it. a strong player might exploit it to its advantage, which is exactly what Gukesh did here. Antonio earlier in the analysis of the video mentions this starting at 2:53, a very good smart analysis indeed. as Antonio says, Magnus is forced to play f6, which is probably the losing move. but as i explained already, the idea of allowing white to pin black's knight on c5 is probably the worst move that Magnus made. black's queen should not be behind a knight. earlier in the game black could have move the knight by taking the bishop with check and then trading queens, and that might have been a better move choice by Magnus! another thing to observe in this game is the fact that the black king castles into even more danger, with white's e6 pawn limiting the king's space as it covers the f7 square and allowing for a possible background mate. around 4:08 Magnus makes the lovely powerful move of knight e4 attacking the queen and landing on the fine post e4. players should always seek those nice moves that have dual or triple effects in their game. the key move of white, in my view, happens with knight d4. now exactly what is Gukesh thinking???! why is white allowing black to take another free pawn on a2???? has white gone insane? i mean, with the move rook x a2 Magnus is able to threaten the b2 pawn also. So either Gukesh blundered or he had more deeper plans or tricks up his sleeves. after white plays rook c7, the position turns very complicated. white obviously is attacking the unprotected knight on e7. even Antonio says it at 4:54 "and this is such a complicated position that it is hard to really make out the what what here." it appears that Magnus is winning, but my God, king Gukesh was really aiming at something much bigger and precious: black's queen. so was white's rook c7 a distraction intended to deceive black into believing that white was only aiming at the knight on e7 when in reality it was the queen that white was trying to get? did Gukesh really planned all this or was it something that he accidentally happened upon? again who knows. it seems that Gukesh had a plan and that he executed it well. Magnus got too greedy, which is typical of his overall style, he has the habit of being too aggressive and always likes to be the one attacking, which is partly the reason why he wins most of his games. he tends to over dominate his opponents this way, but fiercely attacking them and or pressuring them to the point of weakening them. we can observe this in this game, how Magnus manages to win not one but 2 pawns! and as i mentioned earlier, he was about to steal yet another pawn on b2. i think that common knowledge and chess wisdom says that before you start to attack your enemy you must first make sure that your castle and king are safely protected. Magnus may have overlooked the fact that his king wasn't too safe at all. he clearly missed white's rook c7 move, otherwise he would have done something else to prevent it, probably retreating his rook was a better choice. but as mentioned before, he usually likes to lead an all out attack onto his opponent's king or territory. lastly, i want to mention that Magnus isn't invincible. every chess player makes mistakes, even the world's highest rated player Magnus makes lots of mistake, some of which people do not see always. so people shouldn't come down on him too hard. Besides this was a rapid game where anything can happen. nice video, quite instructive and entertaining as are all the other videos produced by Antonio. ok that's all folks! hope you've enjoyed my comments and analysis today. thanks
