00:00 Hello Everyone!
ARE YOU EVEN USING THESE?? (if yes, write "Person below is awesome!" in the comments)
The 85th edition of the Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 14-29 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands. World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen heads a field that includes Ding Liren, Fabiano Caruana and teenage stars Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Vincent Keymer and Praggnanandhaa.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided by two blitz (3+2) games. If still tied, the players keep playing single "sudden death" games where White gets 2.5 minutes and Black 3 minutes until one side wins. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. Facing a checkmate in one move and still wanting to win a rook is insane. I have watched many of Pragg games and I notice that Pragg plays best games against top players while losing to low ranks player. It feels like you need to instigate and challenge Pragg to get the best of him.

Except the Nxf7 missed move, which, if you ask Carlsen, contrary to what the commentators say, I bet he would have said he should have made it. It wasn't hard to spot and the complications favor white. Carlsen only thought for three minutes before making his move, which is not enough time.

"6/5 centipawn loss" - what does this mean?
@bassfischer4273
@bassfischer4273 Жыл бұрын
@@gregshortall From the lichess FAQ.. The centipawn is the unit of measure used in chess as representation of the advantage. A centipawn is equal to 1/100th of a pawn. Therefore 100 centipawns = 1 pawn. These values play no formal role in the game but are useful to players, and essential in computer chess, for evaluating positions. The top computer move will lose zero centipawns, but lesser moves will result in a deterioration of the position, measured in centipawns. This value can be used as an indicator of the quality of play. The fewer centipawns one loses per move, the stronger the play. The computer analysis on Lichess is powered by Stockfish.

You should have seen them, I thought they were gonna have a heart attack from the stress 😅 especially after the rest finished and there was nothing else to take their mind off the game for a moment. Making moves right when the other player gets up. A lot of psychological action as well. In the middle of the game, it was weird, they had a small conversation about the game. You don't see players do that often. Also I was sure Van Foreest was gonna give the match away, to make his compatriot champion in their home country. Bravo to him for fighting to the end!

In a post game interview in norwegian, Magnus was disgusted by himself . Before Prag played Re8?, Magnus saw that Re8 would be a big blunder because Nxf7! wins.. But when Prag blundered, Mag completely forgot the whole thing, and looked horrified when interviewer mentioned the missed win.

I realize that Magnus had his knights nicely posted up, but I still wonder whether Pragg might have been better off leaving them alone and moving into an end-game in which he had two bishops and Magnus had two knights. I would be surprised if even Magnus could win such an end-game against a top 20 player. If wish Agadmator had taken the time to investigate this alternate scenario, even if only to refute it.

if Bobby Fischer played this game, maybe he would comment in the comments of this video.. because he is different.. it's so hard nowadays to find a GM communicating with the fans, even hard to find them smiling again, that's why chess is so boring..

What an elite game. Especially Magnus defending Pragg's 2 queens like he saw the whole thing coming all along, incredible. Pragg is a great fighter and will be back for more against Mr. Carlsen

What a treat these guys are giving us!! Magnus in full combat mode, and Pragg so solid after his unfortunate losing streak. That's the kind of chess we love to see, not accepting quick draws, like some players would have...

Queen and pawn endgames are just too chaotic to be interesting. They also require a huge number of moves because one side or both check each other to death.
