Minnesotan transplanted to Alaska here. Been following your channel for a while and always find your videos a heartwarming piece of home. I came back to the north shore this week and couldn’t resist going on an icy cold agate hunt myself. That lake is so therapeutic! 😌 I appreciate you going through the process & showing all the “duds” we wonder about. Keep up the great work!

My one grandson loves the cutting part because it dosen't take long to see the inside and the polishing part takes so long to get to the pretty part. I love the little guys and the older he gets I know he will love the results even if it takes time to polish them. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.

Going back through your old stuff, and I gotta emphasize the kinship I felt at the 12:45 mark. My back was hurting more the longer you spent in the artisan's hunch, and then the end-of-day relaxation on a flat surface. Can relate to that more than a lot of other things XD.

Great stuff. What I love about rockhounding and each of us being individuals with specific likes, is that your duds could be someone else's find of a lifetime. That moss agate is ridiculous. I don't even have pierced ears but I'd gauge my ears to that size just to flaunt those as plugs. Not really, but that's how great those made me feel. Good job... and you're so real with being laid out like that. I'd do that in one of my vids but then you'd all just watch me fall asleep 😂. Look forward to the next vid.

Macro shots at the end have me speculating on how those form. Personally I think they are mineralized microbes that were living in the rocks and then silicified. Wild speculation I'll admit, but just look at it!

hello sir, watching your videos has really inspired me to look into lapidary, ive been collecting cool looking rocks and fossils for a while here in north east England, total novice and no idea what i'm looking for, any advice on beginner tools or how to get started would be greatly appreciated? ive found quite a lot of ammonites and devils toenails (Gryphaea) which ive seen you cut and polish up recently and id love to attempt a few myself, ive also found a couple of pyrite spheres, some call them cannon balls, which look amazing polished up, I just wouldn't know where to begin?.

Is the respiratory mask needed when cutting stones or a personal preference? That appears to be a very high quality respiratory mask. I know you breathing in dust is bad. I'm not sure what dust would come off of the cab king with the water running. I suppose just better to protect yourself if your cutting lots of rocks.
