I live near the Dugway geode (thunderegg) beds here in utah, and one thing I will say is that it is UNREAL how often these thundereggs are bangers. Not even kidding. If you get a batch, the overwhelming majority are incredible, and they polish up so well; even the rhyolite does, and often the pattern of the rhyolite looks like wood grain or something; it's so sweet. And I'm not really a geode guy, I hunt mostly agates here, but really, how could you not love them. Great video! I'm gonna say that's pyrite, btw. And the black crystal is probably either tourmaline or hematite. And Jude says hi. See ya!

Agree re pyrite; it’s just too brassy and not yellowy enough for gold.

I'm 72; as a child I was mesmerized by agates, geodes,, fabulous things I'd see on vacations at museums and gift shops all through the western and northwestern states. I'm from Washington where there's the Ginkgo Petrified Forest museum with hundreds of glorious beautiful rocks. Back in the 50s and 60s you could buy moss agate souvenir rings, nicely made....no longer can find them. All that to say there was never a way to see them cut and polished until KZbin.......thank you, your channel is a thrill for me....i never miss your episodes.

15:17 geode is so unique, and the amethyst geode is beautiful. I think that first mexican geode is pyrite. However, even more than my love of agates, is my love of opals. I collect raw opals, polished, faceted, loose, jewelry lol anyway they come, so I love those opal thundereggs. I have a geode with pink opal and smoky quartz that I split open myself. Just amazing :)
