I didn’t know my hair’s shine is going to go away with age. Menopause stinks. Thanks for this helpful video.

Stumbled upon this video. I'm 57 and just let my hair grow out to its natural color. I did do 3 transition visits at the salon, which killed my hair. Took me about 2 years from being dark brown and having to dye it every 4 weeks. It's finally healthy again and getting longer. I have a cool salt and pepper natural highlight pattern, which I love and I'm glad I'm not all white yet. I've had the same 80's bangs and layers since high school. My comfort are my bangs. I'm not sure I'll ever switch it up.

As a curly girl that does not now straighten my hair, at 64 I had my long silver hair cut by my sister, who is a hairstylist, into a modern shag with curly bangs and it looks great. I get a lot of compliments from complete strangers on my hair. It does not look dated at all!

Hello Summer. Happy holidays 🤗. This is such an awesome video. Have you tried the Moroccan Oil Color Depositing Mask? I use the clear one, it is a high-shine gloss. I love it.

What an awesome video! I literally spit out my coffee in the beginning because at 59 years old, I can definitely relate to the changes my body, skin and hair has been going through. My hair has been a struggle though. I do implement alot of the suggestions you mentioned so it's very healthy looking and shiny. For years I wore it shorter and it had a more edgier look which I tend to like better and prevents me from getting bored. I have grown it out into a lob (the front is right above my collar bone). I do not have an issue with volume. In fact my issue is how thick and wavy my hair has become. My stylist has added some texture so it has movement, however, it still has the tendency to start stacking and going into a poofy triangle shape about 2 to 3 weeks after I get it cut. I always love it right after it's cut but then I literally hate it until the next cut (I go every 5 weeks). I love to be able to wear it straight and wavy but the area at ear level around my entire head is just too poofy. I have asked her to remove more bulk but she is very hesitant. She is worried the ends will be too thinned out over time (which happened with the prior 2 stylist I went to). I love this stylist and want to keep working with her. She nails the color better than anyone I have gone to in years. How do I communicate to her what I am looking for and what can she do to help remove bulk without overthinning my hair to help it be more manageable and not take so much time to fix? I have had a very difficult time finding videos on issues with thick hair and how to collapse the hair. So many are about how to make thin hair look thick. I am grateful I have so much hair but it has become very exhausting trying to manage it. I also have a weird growing pattern at the nape of the neck on ONE SIDE only that tends to stick out of the bottom about 2 to 3 weeks after it's cut (it just starts to flatten out and straighten more as it grows -- it's so weird). She has suggested an undercut but that is very extreme and I do like to wear my hair up in a ponytail in the summer and not sure I would like the look. She tried to thin it out a little right at the nape and it really looks wiry and uneven when I wear my hair up. I don't want to go back to a shorter style but I'm wondering if that is what I will ultimately need to do.

Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, it sounds like you have beautiful hair! I'm so happy you have a stylist that nails your color and it sounds like she is someone who can definitely work to get the cut perfect as well! I would ask her if she can point cut into the hair, esp on the top layers(this will help remove bulk but not be as intense as actual thinning shears) and over direct your side to the back and cut into a little bit more for layers. This is is of course if she's not doing it already. I find point cutting to be ideal because you can debulk the hair but it's softer for those who want to maintain more hair. When she suggested and undercut for your back piece did she mean a buzzed undercut or just with her shears? If done with shears it can blend really well and not be as noticable for when you wear your hair up.

@SummerBeautyc Point cutting and over directing has been perfect for me! I used to hate my hair at the 2-3 mark too, thinking I needed it cut again. These techniques you suggested here, I have seen you recommend before and my stylist now does them . I wanted to say thank you Summer! ❤

@@SummerBeautyc Just realized I never answered your questions about undercutting. The last time I got it cut she did an undercut with shears that isn't that dramatic but when I put my hair up (in a low ponytail) the hair at the nape appears very wiry and goes in different directions not laying down well. She wanted to try this first before going with a buzzed undercut. I'm wondering if the area she cut with the shears is too thin and more weight would help it lay down better. However, I would prefer that area is still long enough to fit inside with the ponytail without the unkept look at the nape. I do wear my hair up alot in the summer bc my son has outdoor sporting events and we are in the south with alot of heat and humidity.

I'm loving your videos. I wish you had been around way back when, I surely could have used top-notch advice with my fine hair. I'm 63 now, and still have that fine hair, lol, so I'll be using these tips for sure. I was looking for the video with the supplements that you suggested but can't find it. Will you perhaps be doing another video on supplements/vitamins for hair? Thank you, Summer!

@SummerBeautyc Thank you, Only found your channel a few days ago. But was binge watching how to cut bad hair cuts. As my last cut which was last week is awful. Cut a massive wedge right at the front. I only wanted a few layers. Can I use my thinning scissors on my fine hair? Or would you just do pie sections and point cut please? ✂️
