I think the small griffcrow is mounted on a small base because it is just a token. It can't be killed, it has no combat radius. If the character rolls a one on a ward save it goes away or something like that. I saw the huge potential for Spearhead. I loved the small footprint, the quick play. They even manage to convey that you have a small army force that has the flavour of that faction, while trying to manage balance which has always been an ongoing issue from the start. A lot of people even dedicated 40K and AOS players just don't have the time or funds to create a force, purchase all the different units as well as any other supplies needed, build the force, and finally paint the force. After all that, how much do you get to play with the force. Then a different force catches your eye. Spearhead fixes almost every weakness of the original game. I hope and expect Combat Patrol to get a similar treatment. I think the skirmish army concept will become more dominate. It will have a greater appeal. Far cheaper to get into. Games Workshop has positioned itself well for a changing market, and just in time. Corvis Belle has been working on Warcrow for at least 2 years. It is a small army game played on a 3 x 3 or 2 x 2. Awesome sculpts, and a fresh take on a combat system that works equally well for combat, or magic. It can scale down to Warcry numbers, and as large as Spearhead forces. One system to compete against two GW game lines that have two different rule sets

Oh absolutely, and it's why I left it, but you have to remove the peg or it hangs off the base funny 😅 With the peg (and, honestly, without it - it's very cramped on a 25mm) a 32mm base looks so much better!

@@Chipperz1 Would a 28mm base work. I'd hate to make the g.ryphcrow the same base size as a gryphhound

Absolutely! 25mm is just a BIT too small (in my opinion - like you say, it's a token so anh base works honestly!) ALSO! My phone didn't load the rest of your first comment so I'm gonna reply to that because you raise some interesting points! I think wargames in general are going smaller both as the cost of living spirals and, frankly, as people have less time in general. It's honestly one of the reasons I started Battle Box Batreps - to showcase that playing small wargames from a single army box can be fun and engaging 🙂 It seems like companies and indie devs are embracing "coffee table knife fight" design over "wargames table slugging match", and I'd honestly be shocked if many games come out that require 4x4 foot or bigger tables in future - a change I can only say I think is for the better, and not just because I have a 3x4 table to play on 😅 I hope you're right and Combat Patrol gets a full Spearhead style release, because Spearhead is awesome so far and I wanna use my toys a lot more in future! 😅 I will absolutely check out Warcrow too, I'm always on the lookout for new games to get into 😁 Thanks! 😁

Would you say that it's better managed than combat patrol?

Also, do you think the Skaventide box is worth buying? I'm currently considering.

It SEEMS to be better managed than Combat Patrol, but I'm holding off until I see if they expand it out or not... I think it'a a good deal, but I got it at 75% RRP and knew I'd be using it for this. Honestly if you don't want both sides, I'd see about ebaying the side you want and a rulebook/Fire and Jade set?
