Growing up in a middleclass Kenyan household, Jesse Mureu Karanja acquired a privileged education which allowed him to study abroad, travel the world, equipping him with life skills he would not have been exposed to back at home. He had never really confronted his identity as an African but it wasn’t until the 25th of May 2016 where his perception of the African Continent was redefined. He saw the African person embrace their culture through the diverse foods, performances and colourful attire.
Agenda 2063, a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over the next 50 years, aims at an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa. Presenting his view on his home continent’s future, hear what Jesse has to say about the Africa he wants. Jesse Karanja is a 23 year old Kenyan with a bachelor's degree in International relations. He is currently working in Germany’s capital Berlin, in PR&Communications as head conceptioner for projects in the Gulf and African region. Jesse is very passionate about the future of his continent and in this light decided to inform himself about what the African Union is currently doing. Upon stumbling on this framework “Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want”, Jesse realized that if Africa is truly transform itself, he would need to first be a leading example of the Africa he wants. By informing the world about this Agenda by the African Union, he is hopefully that many Africans will take it upon themselves to bring socio-economic development to their own continent.Jesse also recently became member of the Afro Deutsche Akademische Netzwerk (ADAN) here in Berlin and after meeting the team, he is hopeful that Africa has young, bright minds ready to tackle head on the problems crippling our continent. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I saw this today and was inspired and uplifted! God is good Just yesterday I was calculating how old I'll be in 2063 (I'll be 66 😊) and I thought I was alone as a youth who is feeling so strongly about our continent. But watching this video I had one of those great moments again of remembering why I was born We are doing great already 🙌

Great speech, you also talk about women in Leadership, which is also a European Agenda. If Africa is to be great we need to determine our own rules, our own policies.

In 2063 I'll be 104 years old, Dear God let it be !! I love this vision of Africa, the fire of which burns in my very bones. But I pray that by then the eyes of all Africans would have been open enough to see their real enemy and kick the parasites, the thieves, the liars, and racists out of our land. We have naively for so long been willing to share what God has blessed us with but they have from the four corners of the earth with their false balances and wanted it all. They love Africa but hate the African !!!

Good information but I have one problem! We as Africans talk too much. Why should we go about telling everyone about our plans? Look at the Europeans or the Chinese, do you see them advertising their plans? Let us stop telling them about our plans because they don't wish us good. By exposing our plans, we are actually inviting their interference.

Also an Africa that's proud of its own names...ditch the "Jesse ," let's go Kamau, or s'thing...like the Nigerians who so proudly flaunt their own names! Catch up, Kenya..names are an identifier just like language and culture..

Africa will never change without Africans first changing their mindset, which is only a dream right now. Don't blame others for the bad perception the world thinks about Africans. Respect is earned, not given. But this video is a beginning of individual mindset change.

@tito depinto, agree! and it is common sense as well. However, i am sure you are well aware how much the US and Europe still systematically colonising Africa through puppet leaders. Thw once opposed to determine their own fate hit with heavy sanctions.

@@mrnobody6603 despite it may sound cynical, you are absolutly right. Here i add more, by then the West, specially the US and UK have looted enough resource till end of the world, but only God will know what the future withheld. look what these 2 world big colonozers still doing opposing the peoples wills in some African countries where they said No to be their puppets than determine their own destiny for their own people.
