I once did maintenance in a house of a rich russian family in switzerland... the furniture and golden bathroom looked almost the same,... but they also had an indoor pool, a sauna, one side of the house was just of glass, so they can watch at the lake, and ofcourse they had like a balcony inside the house, where you coult sit and watch at the living room and diner room down... :D

Most people do not live like this. However, it's more common in the US to have amenities than perfect apartments and houses, even for many low rent individuals. My generation is becoming bland where we buy prints and set up fake luxury. Russians are hard-core about supplies and other aspects of their houses. Still, I prefer French architecture myself. I think they are the best.
