This video was posted at such a fortuitous time. I just came back from a TA session at school. I'm in vet school on a tiny island in the Caribbean and we don't have stores where I can easily get my crafty little gremlin hands on the goods to satisfy my every arts n crafts itch. I was feelin' the crafting urge when I got home from campus and here was this video. I could vicariously sooth the Crafting Gremlin by watching Kira sculpt a voluptuous pumpkin lady. Happy Halloween 1st!

My friend works there, and he can take 10 people of his choice to tour once a year. Laika Studios is a short drive away from the town I live in.

For the hollow pumpkin head you could use a ball of newspaper as the base and then sculpt the pumpkin around it, leaving an opening at the bottom. Then you bake it and the paper usually turns to ash or you can just pull it out with some tweezers. That’s how we would make clay bells in school.

I waited a few days to get properly cosy, with my nice orange-brown knitted jumper and a mug of pumpkin spiced chai and let me tell you this video gave me SO much serotonin, and the skirt details were absolutely gorgeous I almost salivated at the ruffles and bows 10/10 incredible work. And also the pinstripes on the gathered skirt part look so good even tho it seems it would be difficult to do so kudos for that.

This is precisely the spooky vibe I cheered for when waking up on Oct 1st. I love the original character design video and this was a fantastic way to bring the fancy victorian scarecrow lady to life. As for your troubles with making your airbrushing vibrant, I wonder if you’ve considered a xenithal prime? As far as I know, the next step after the black prime would be to spray the figure from a high angle with a white or light colored paint. That way, you can still get deep shadows, but also have a light base coat so that the midtones can really pop. Great sculpting and lovely result!
