How should I clean the channel where the liner must be placed, if some particles are present?

I use a long cotton swab and dip it in hexane or solvent. Focus on cleaning near the top of the inlet where the purge and split vent trap are. If you have particles on the gold seal, it's best to remove the column and either change out the gold seal or clean it with hexane. Best of luck...p.s. Herb and Daron taught me everything i know

If you mean any particles are on the bottom of the inlet "tube" where the liner is placed, than just do the steps like in video of replacing the Gold Seal (without replacing, of course). It is pretty simple and requires two more steps than just replacing a column.

How would you purge with carrier gas while the injector and column are still 'cold'?

You can pressurize the inlet without needed to turn on any of the heating elements. This can be achieved from your instrument's front panel, or by adjusting the instrument parameters in your software.

Is it necessary to vent the mass spectrometer to replace the inlet liner ?

No, you don’t need to vent your mass spec to change your liner and septum. All you need to do is turn off the gas flow on your GC. As best practice make sure heated zones are cooled prior to the replacement.

Perform a liner replacement (and any other accessory replacements) prior to flame ignition.

How can I replace the liner in GC with headspace?

The same way as in the GC without HS: 1.) Disconnect the transfer line (in modern systems transfer line is connected perpendicular to the liner and you don't need to disconnect it). 2.) Remove the cap (in older systems it looks more like a sleeve than a cap). 3.) Replace liner with accordance to the movie.

When to change the septum, liner ad O-ring depend on the analysis you are running how many injections are done a day, how clean the sample is, and what type of liner you are using.
