One thing I noticed is from about 18km out against a bow tanking FDJ(German tier 9 bb). Each salvo is able to delete 12-15k HP off it, the same applies to Bismark and Japanese Izumo. The other one is the Tier 8 Soviet BB, but that one has to hit it with an angel and hits its stern to gain the extra HP, occasionally if you can get to about 14km distance you can cit that Vlad.

Good to see that WG are treading carefully with the balance on this line, giving it armour at the expense of guns - we can only hope that they take the same approach with the new Soviet cruisers.

In a nutshell Copy paste Siegfried hull but with 3x3 305mm guns from Odin and sent down at T9. I wish they’d give a similar treatment to Yoshino and Azuma. Yoshino was supposedly designed to have a thicker 152mm deck (from 127mm) with 2x3 356mm Kongou guns to counter Alaska Class.

Hey Notser ! First of all, thx for all your videos. They are always great and inspiring. I just wanted here to deal with a big problem concerning Ägir that, to my knowledge, was not spotted by any CC. As everybody knows, the main gimmick of german AP is the big alpha strike. Thus, a Hipper has a 5900 AP while Baltimore has a 5000 AP. This difference goes all along the tier 9 and 10. We are talking about a massive difference of 18%. Comparing Ägir’s and Alsaka’s AP, this difference is dropping to 2,2% (8900 against 9100). So, I don’t mind nerfing the secondaries and the armor scheme compared to blueprints. But why did WG not apply the main identity of the german line to Ägir? Thx!

German high tier cruisers were always some of the easiest cruisers to devastate at medium to long ranges when broadside. Slow, easy to hit and the turtleback at range only serves to make sure the AP shells arm properly...

compared its 380mm counterpart Siegfried, Agir has 1 more secondary turret on each side (3 to 4), which is a huge damage output increase by almost 33%. I think the secondary on these cruisers are for more efficient anti-DD capability so I wouldn't think you would need all the range (11.5km) for that, maybe you can skip AFT skill for something else, and still keep the effectiveness against DDs at close range where your main battery reload slacks.

Ahh well... In t8 matches Spee is by far the slowest ship with the lowest range. With lousy AP and inaccuret turrets. Plus a pretty weak armour belt... How you manage to rush anything in that slow tard is a miracle to me. In a 1 vs 1 fight I do think that even York is a thread to spee.... Spee is fun, sometimes. But most of the times it's just frustrating....but I guess you have not jet been gunned down by a fast dd wich you can not hit with those 6 shotgun shells..

So this particular German battle cruiser has German battleship artillery dispersion? I main cruisers and Hindenburg happens to be my favorite but while I own GK I rarely play it as the German battleship gun dispersion is terrible. Another high tier German cruiser to play sounds appealing but if it has German battleship dispersion I think I'll have to take a pass on this one.

I'm already seeing some spooky things that don't seem very good, and that I'd rather have Siegfried. Primarily the guns being so dubiously underpowered. The big question is if they are going to try and do Siegfried at Tier10 despite being virtually identical other than the guns. Hope it's both of them at T9 to give players a choice. The community seemed to be torn on whether to love or hate the Siegfried so hopefully Agir is low-effort placation/choice with.

I really feel it will have the same lack of consistency Kronstadt have. I like Kron, one of the most beautiful ships of the game, his line is gorgeous, but it’s a poor dmg dealer and u can’t count on it vs heavy guns. At least Odin will have torps, brawl when BBs are dead and chase DDs or CLs can be fun. But I foresee the same troubles Kronstadt have with Agir Although, I guess I will buy Agir when released nevertheless... bcoz why not !? 😂

Its probably based on the Bismarck. Although it had some of the best range finders and fire directors, during its battle with hood they found that the instruments were too delicate. When Bismarck fired; much of the fire control was damaged by the blast of the guns and with each salvo, the accuracy got worse, and in its final battle against the Royal Navy the Bismarck struggled to hit anything because of this. The same problem appeared on land with the Jagdtiger. It had a 128mm anti-tank gun, but the recoil damaged the sight mounting and every few shots it needed recallibrating as it was so inaccurate. Hope that explains things! Edit: clarity

The_Victorious_1 what? The Bismarck didn’t display bad accuracy ever, not even in its final fight, when it straddled Rodney several times. The Bismarck, with its stuck rudder, could only maneuver in circles, and hence not fire accurately(the Bismarck was one of the few ships in wwii that could fire and maneuver at the same time. Most other ships couldn’t have fired at all in this situation). The longest hit in naval combat scored in history was the Scharnhorst still, which was older than the Bismarck. With the Jagdtiger it was a different problem, the gun on the Jagdtiger was just too strong. On a ship weighing millions of kilograms, recoil is vanishingly small in relation, but the Jagdtiger weighed only 70 tons, coupled to a gun that was stronger than the guns employed on Abrams and Leopard 2 today. There simply was too much gun. It wasn’t the only vehicle with such problems by the way, and zeroing sights has to be done with all weapon systems, yes even today. I will don’t know why people believe these myths. I haven’t read a single source describing such bad accuracy described by the Germans, like ever by anyone.

For the Jagdtiger, check either the Tanks encyclopedia article or (better) a book called "The Combat History of Schwerer Panzerjäger Abteilung 635", as this unit operated the Jagdtiger and reported this problem. Edit: to clarify, I didn't nean to say that that the Bismarck couldn't fire accurately, just that the damage made it more difficult and so this is what Wargaming are modelling. Sorry if I didnt make it clear.

Wargaming is pulling most of the stats out of their ass. It starts on the armor values of the ships and the list continues Turret rotation Reload Penetration Acceleration Etc.... There is no real physics behind that game. The only thing based on actual facts might be the design (the looks of the ship) and they even mess that up. Ask Gneisenau. Or PEF wich could have been a derflinger .... Regarding Bismarck. It actually disabled its surface detection radar while shooting at the cruiser norfork. It had no radar for fire controll. Rangefinding for guns was primarily done by optics and that worked pretty well against hood and Prince of Wales. As for accuracy in the final battle... Well for one I do think that getting spanked from all directions and multiple direct hits to the primary fire controll stand did not really help the situation. And there are accounts from the few surviving crew that state: They knew this would be there last stand. Chances of escape were effectively none existend. And so on the evening, per order the galley was opened and alcohol was served for everyone .... I guess that might did help moral.... Efficency and accuracy might not so much....
