On case planters with outer gauge wheel arms, you can add a washer between the arm and the bearing. Standard is one washer but we've done up to 3. At that point the rubber is incredibly stiff, usually edge integrity is poor, and you'll see stubble marks and damage be a very clear sign it's time to replace.
