Instead of one rear door for parachutist, future USAF MC-130's and USMC KC-130's will have in that place a rack to lauch the AGM-175 Griffin downwards.

just toss the thing out the back ramp? What an advanced launch system to turn the C-130 in to a smart bomber

So this would be, what? Modifcation 1,396,201 for the venerable C-130?

wow - I´m waiting for the first misfire when this missile starts right after release and then greeting the pilot in the cockpit after it flew through the whole plane....

Erm... the Griffin A is gravity powered. There is no rocket motor on it. You simply drop it off the back of the plane

rear dropped, rocket propelled.. cool. kinda seems like no big deal, like its supposed to be obvious that you should be able to do this with almost all precision munitions
@dartmaster5012 жыл бұрын
Griffin As are unpowered. Also, it is the AGM-176A.

yeah they are even proposing pilotless missiles that launch guided munitions on demand as they loiter for even days up high also providing data. In the end , if need be, the "missile " itself that was launching other munitions as needed , also has a warhead & it too can end its life hitting a target with its own warhead. No human pilot is even in danger.
