Since I started paying full attention to Agnes Obel 3 days ago I've bought 3 of her CDs and can't stop playing her song "It's happening again"... she's a major artist for sure! 🎶♏💜🎶👍🏼

Agnes is something else. I discovered her some time ago. Her music is so soothing and atmospheric. Reminds me of nature.

Imagine driving a car, bumping your head to some banger rap and suddenly this song comes in. I would never thought that this kind of music will end up on my playlist... LOVE IT! Another proof that you can't close your mind for one genre 🙂

If you liked Dorian, you must NOT skip The Curse (from the same session). Agnes Obel is a miracle, and these live sessions simpy doubles the experience of the studio versions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGLamJR8f5Vqa5I

Agnes (pronounced ow-ness) is amazing. Please try ‘The Curse’ from the same Berlin live session. It currently has 45 million views, so you know from that it has something going for it.

Agnes Obel is a danish artist and she is amazing! I fell in love with her music instantly when I heard Riverside when it first came out. It’s an absolute masterpiece and I would love for you to react to it. Edited to say: came here for Home Free, subscribed for this!

Beautiful song 🔥 chills .. thank you for sharing 🤗

The "muted piano" is a Celesta. It is more related to a glockenspiel than a piano in how it produces sound. The muffled sound comes from wooden reasonators underneath the metal bars the hammers are hitting.

I love Agnes Obel! I discovered her from the soundtrack of the Netflix series 'Dark'. Her voice is haunting and her songs always take me elsewhere in my mind. My favourite song of hers is 'Familiar'. Would love if you could react to that one at any point.

If you like dark, the Intro on that show is done by Soap and Skin...look up the song Me and the Devil. I could play that on repeat all day.

Great pick, Chris! This was an absolutely beautiful song. Very organic sound and a very impressive arrangement. Quite a bit of thought process behind it 🙂 Agnes has a beautiful voice♥ and sounding like this live is always a BIG plus in my book. Thanks for giving me another piece of music that I can add to my playlist. Greetings from Norway ♥♥♥

Agnes is fantastic. The viola here (not violin) with the cello is beautiful. The instrument Agnes is playing is a celesta.
@stever773210 ай бұрын
I think that is a violin she is playing. At the start of the video you can see the slightly larger viola in its stand on the floor behind her. But she was playing the viola in the ‘The Curse’ performance from the same session. Mika Posen is not very big so the violin does look bigger than normal in her hands.

you should also check out anna von hausswolff, for example "how many more of these?" or "they hoped for a name" or "stranger" live and compare these songs with "funeral for my future children" live or "the mysterious vanishing of electra"- music video. she is a genre on her own with an absolute incredible voice. and do more susanne sundfor!

Would love to see you react to something by Postmodern Jukebox. It’s quite the rabbit hole, but Haley Reinharts’s cover of Creep is a great place to start.

Now that you found one great danish artist how about reacting to some others: Tina Dico/Dickow - f.ex. “Sacre Coeur” - has a bit of the same sound as Agnes. A great singer-/songwriter! Alex Vargas - f.ex. “Shackled up”, “Solid ground” or “Higher love”. Or the amazing cover of “Police bells & Church Sirens” from the danish tv-show “Toppen af Poppen”. Annisette (from the band Savage Rose) - f.ex. “A girl I knew” (it would be really interesting to hear an analysis of both the 1968 version - and one as she sounds today (yes she’s still going strong)! Car Park North f.ex. “Transparent & Glasslike” Dune “Dry lips” Mads Langer “Monsters in my mind”, “Fact-fiction” or “Elephant” Kwamie Liv - also a very interesting singer

As you asked, try Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Tori Amos, Julee Cruise, Emiliana Torrini, Beth Orton, Bird York, Heather Nova, Jerry Burns, Judie Tzuke, Lesley Duncan, Nancy Pollack, Sally Oldfield, Wendy MaHarry, The Cocteau Twins. (Agnes Obel is at the top of my list, mainly because it's alphabetical, but she's great as well). I think you were extremely lucky with Agnes appearing on a random search (maybe it's alphabetical too), it will be interesting to see if your luck continues, I somehow doubt it.
