Love Agnes Obel, just discovered her music last year and she is one of my favorites already.

It's a regular upright piano with the top and upper front panels removed. There is felt added between the hammers and strings to give it that dampened sound. She does a lot of experiments with sound.

This is one of the greatest songs of the last 10 years . In fact it is one of the greatest songs of any era. Agnes Obel has released a number of superb albums . She is one of the modern artists who give a lie to that there is no great modern music around . There is plenty if people will give it a chance eg The National, PJ Harvey, Low , London Grammar, Wolf Alice, First Aid Kit, Interpol. Bat for Lashes, Suede, Sharon van Etten, Marina, Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine etc !

The instrument is a Celesta. There is a video by the company which makes it where you can hear the distinctive sound. Also, a lot of good music from Scandinavia: Little Dragon, Fever Ray, Röyksopp

Her music is enchanting as is that of the Northern Ireland group Clannad and the voice of Clanad's Moya Brennan. Lorena McKennitt is also awesome. She traced her Celtic roots back to the Indo-Europens and her live concert at the Alhambra h in Spain is unforgetable

I come back to these once in a while and this time I'm really noticing the range that Mikka Posen has in the harmony vocals. From the low notes in the beginning to the high notes in "tell me if, il ever know" in the last verse. Very impressive!

She's terrific. I've listened to quite of few songs from her now. I really like her voice. She definitely ended up having her own playlist on my channel (You won't be surprised to learn Aurora has the biggest playlist on my channel) Speaking of which, when are we getting another Aurora reaction???

"Familiar" and other songs by her were also used in the German TV show "Dark". One in each season. "Familiar" as the opening theme of Cardinal was very fitting to the general tone of the show.
