As a late diagnosed Autistic woman, she has helped me allow myself the freedom of stims.. at least in the presence of music that speaks to me. I get wrapped. It was long suppressed, and I felt so weird and self conscious about it and often shyed away from music. To see someone like her get wrapped up in the music so much she has to shake out the energy before she explodes, I can embrace a part of myself that was bullied out. I started listening to her before i was diagnosed, but I already knew i most likely was-I thought the same about her as well. She seems so FREE and carefree, unburned by the weight of feeling like you need to hide yourself. While I love her album tracks for consistency, she adds so much individual flare and energy to live performances of those vary same studio tracks that they almost feel like completely different songs.

I’m partially deaf so music is very hard for me especially the lyrics. I do not know why but the sounds she makes just do something to my very soul. She makes me want to happily run away and explore all aspects of the earth before calling my husband to find me where I’m lost lol she is not of this world. We will learn some day she was sent her to either save us or study us. I’m convinced.

Aurora is a quirky, enchanting snow pixie from the north and I can't get enough of her! I could recommend almost every song on her list, but "The River" is one that speaks to me on a personal level. You may have been distracted by her performance (understandable) but the backing vocals were being done by her band. Also I understand her sister makes most of her outfits. You might want to check out interviews with her, as she is exactly as enchanting when talking as singing.

Welcome to the world of Aurora! No two songs are alike. No two performances are alike. You should see her now. She just continues to evolve at a wonderful rate. She sings with her whole body. When she first was dragged sooooo reluctantly on stage, she was, by her own admission, not only terrified, but tried to stand still, as she was told, but could not. Once she began singing, she always went (still does) completely into the song. She said the energy of it had to go somewhere, so it would come out as rather jerky hand and arm movements which she was unaware of until she saw herself on camera. Over time, she stopped trying to "stand still" and her movements became graceful and truly a part of the story she tells with every song. She is, btw, also an accomplished dancer, as you will see if you continue to review her music. :) And, no, no voice training. Dance training, yes.

I am 78 and there isnt much in the music planet I have not listened to. I stumbled upon this after lsitening to her brilliant cover of Bowie's Life on Mars. Brilliant because she understands the narrative must dominate above all else and she is THE ONLY PERFORMER wise and gifted enough to let the words breathe within the melody. Unlike ANY OTHER PERFORMER who has covered this with pounding guitars/drums and voice to match, she understates and gently performs in her haunting way and you hear the wonder of the song and are embraced by her. Then I saw this and despite it being an analysis I found myself sobbing and emptied of all my emotions. What an amazing and truly rare talent and human being she is. WHAT A GIFT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN.

I feel like with aurora, people try to break her down in her expressions (body movements and voice)... but when she records/performs she’s not saying “this is planned... I’m going to do this and that to make the audience feel a certain way or to sound a certain way.” She’s just bearing her soul and letting it flow out. I don’t know how to put it into words. It’s a natural expression of body and mind? Like an inner monologue being brought forward. Mind. Blowing.
