We listen to a lot of her music during Art Therapy. It helps. It really helps. Sometimes you don't have words for your traumas, sometimes you only have colours and movement to express the trauma. Songs like these help us tap into a calm place of raw emotions, where we feel safe enough to put the traumas on paper via "mark making". Thank you for your comment. It reminded me that I have Art Therapy tomorrow. Hope your day is going well. Peace

Introduced to "Agnes" by my teenage granddaughter, this proves beautiful music can bridge the generations. Agnes' music is stirring in its simplicity and fluid melody, like a warm knife carving and shaping butter are the tones that waft the human heart. What a great role model on so many levels.

I just found this masterpiece yesterday, October 2022. Today its 3 at night and I am listening to this song over and over again. No matters I have to wake up early. And I cannot describe this feeling. I want to cry but I am happy and filled with hope and happiness at the same time. Found this so late and on the other hand, in a perfect, tough moment of my life. That have been such a long time when I felt that way last time. This is beautiful and amazing. Makes me calm, grateful and brings strength. And the lyrics, this together with the sound... I wish I could say anything better but I can't find words to express. I believe there are things that can only be described by music and that would be one of these. This is one of these few songs I will be listening till the end of my days, both in difficult or nostalgic moments. Thank you Agnes. Great thanks to you and to the band.

Reason why music is beyond everything is because it's human, not divine ... If you can hear the best songs ever wrote, it's because this singers had things to say, due to the human defects, and the fact that your life is so short makes you able to understand why she's so precious. Japanese men say that if the time the cherry trees had flowers wasn't that short, then not sure that you'll like them this much. Sorry for my english.

One morning, after a heavy night of drink and smoke. Outside the sun was lightly showing, I was ready to go home with a friend, but we waited in the car, for no specific reason. I tried to look for a good song on the radio. Then, I heard that voice, Riverside, but the voice itself sounded like a river of beauty. It was one this magic moments, when time seems to slow to let us enjoy the present moment. Just sitting, in silence, with this etheric song playing. Then, we smiled. You don't know, but I forgot a lot of things, really really often. But at the end of the day I had found the name of the woman who do this all. And I will really like to thank her for all this magnificent masterpieces. Thank you, Agnes !

it was raining heavily while i was thinking about the “dark" memories. Then, i found the “Riverside". I lied in my bed, opened Riverside and the window to hearing rain more, and closed my eyes. After few seconds, i said myself “You did something good for you once girl. You found the happiness and push the pain away for a while." I still remember that moments, it was like paradise. I love Agnes so much. She's art, she's dark, she's heaven and she's perfect.

It kind of makes me sad that her music isn't more popular. The songs off her Aventine album are genuinely some of the most beautiful songs released this decade, in my opinion, so its a shame to think that due to low publicity they may be forgotten in the future :/
@Hundl11 жыл бұрын
Her videos have 880.000, 3,600.000 and 11,000.000 views as for now. By "more popular" i think you mean that everybody on this planet should know at least one track - and i agree :)

@estebanschwencke870011 жыл бұрын
My point is that if she was more popular, there is no place where she could be in peace anymore. Popularity's not a great thing for who's popular in this world, even if you like it. Because it's pointless. You shouldn't make music to be popular. But i agree, some people really need this music. Choose your side !
@alexf0207199911 жыл бұрын
esteban schwencke Yeah that's definitely true. I was going to mention that in my original post, but I thought it may be seen as too negative. I think my problem was more the fact that future generations will look back at the "best ballads of the 10s" and find stuff by mainstream artists, when really songs like this would deserve to be on a list like that.
@estebanschwencke870010 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah, but it would be totally hilarious. *Aaand to end this top 100 of the best ballads, here is "Lookin' Ass Nigga" by Nicky Minaj at the first place* - this girl's definitely an empty blank page, man. This said, i really hope that people will one day knock them in the face and realize they have a brain too. And if they don't, well just fuck 'em !

She is an angel with an angelic voice and melodies. I've bought Philharmonics, Aventine, and also the iTunes Live in London set of songs. I put on Agnes Obel on repeat and fall asleep every night to her music. Agnes is obviously talented, but so are the other two women that make up all of the sounds (besides piano). I love her to death, and when shared with my parents, my mother also absolutely loves her! It's pretty cool when I like something so much, and that my parents share the same feelings. Unfortunately, iTunes stopped publishing the live performances from London that had a different artist each day in September. What an angelic voice and music. I discovered her music a couple years ago when they played a song during an episode on the TV drama "Revenge".

This video is amazing. Reminds me of back when I suffered from insomnia and spent so many nights just wandering the streets looking at everything in dull lighting so it seemed almost grey shifted. Everything took on this almost alien appearance and seemed to move so slowly. In a weird way I miss walking around all night listening to Agnes Obel and Failure and this video and song kind of puts me back into that wondrous state of mind where I feel almost disconnected from the world..
@crowdedcrow30985 жыл бұрын
M. Faustus Surely our experiences are different, but I had a visceral reaction to the film that played in my head as I read your words. I had insomnia while finishing my last year at University and I would walk along the river, through gardens, under streetlamps and all along the campus grounds during the wee hours when the sky begins to lighten from charcoal to grey. I was going through a kind of breakdown, unexpected and unprovoked. The most frightening sort, when you don't understand what is happening to you. In any case, I made friends with a charismatic squirrel; I claimed that as the Prussian-silver that lined the pathway of all those early mornings.

Lyrics And the people went into their hide, ay-oh From the start they didn't know exactly why, why Winter came and made it so all look alike, look alike Underneath the grass would grow, aiming at the sky It was swift, it was just another wave of a miracle But no one, nothing at all would go for the kill If they called on every soul in the land, on the moon Only then would they know a blessing in disguise The curse ruled from the underground, down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before The curse ruled from the underground, down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before Tell me now of the very soul that look alike, look alike Do you know the stranglehold covering their eyes? If I call on every soul in the land, on the moon Tell me if I'll ever know a blessing in disguise The curse ruled from the underground, down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before And the curse ruled from the underground, down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before

İts like travelling to somewhere you don’t know. Like traveling to a darker side, unknown side. Somewhere that makes you feel lonely

Does anybody know any other singers or groups like this? I feel like this type of artist is so rare, at least I don't ever feel this emotionally connected.

cette musique alimente nos rêves, nos attentes... à la fois douce et pleine de promesses...une autre vision du monde, celle qu'on couve sans en parler à personne. Ecoutez aussi Philipp Glass, Eric Truffaz, EST...
