I would have never in a million years thought about using plastic wrap to roll out a pie crust. Thank you for sharing this neat idea. I enjoy the time that I get to spend with you in your lovely kitchen. I am going to borrow some of your ideas to redo my kitchen, if you don't mind. Have a great dinner with your friends.

Butter! YES! It is the only thing to use making pie crusts. One thing I do, which I found helps. To make sure the bottom of the crust doesn't get mushy, before I fill the pie I bake it on 350 for 5 min after I prick it with the fork. I then do a light white egg wash on the inside of the pie shell before I fill it. My bottom crust never is mushy from any filling. Just wanted to share.😁

First, LOVE the tortie on the counter. My grandma had flour sack towels she used to roll her dough on. They were only used for pie crusts. I'm sure she would have loved plastic wrap for the cleanup factor!

I bet the flour sack towels worked beautifully!

I seriously have "learn to make pie crust" as one of my To-do items for 2020. It is September and I still haven't tackled that one, lol! I am going to use your recipe and method to make one though! This is perfect timing - I just bought 2 cans of cherry pie filling and refused to get my old stand-by Pillsbury Ready Made Crust! Thanks for such a great tutorial. I will let you know how I did :)
@CosmopolitanCornbread4 жыл бұрын
You can do it!

I'm ready to try a food processor after watching your video here. Would you furnish info about yours such as the brand & size? I didn't find it on your Amazon list. Thank you very much...really enjoyed your tips for making pie crust. I'm a LOT older than you & have been making pie crusts the old fashioned way forever. Time for a change!

I have had mine for many years. It is a Cuisinart, 9 cup. I will say, that the price of these has gone up significantly since I got mine. This is the one I have - amzn.to/32YNU22 Honestly, I wouldn't necessarily pay that much for one. I would just read reviews and find one for a good price.

Do you grind your flour for this recipe or is this all purpose flour from the store ? I would love to learn more about grinding your own flour for different applications.
@CosmopolitanCornbread4 жыл бұрын
This particular recipe, I use store bought flour (organic, unbleached bread flour.) I do it that way because I have been making this bread since long before I ever milled wheat. And since it is a bit of a treat, I don't want to alter the recipe :)

I have made two ( yes 2) pie crust. Just learning. First was too dry and second better, but not quite there. First filling was apple and second was peach+mango. Your tips make me to try my third crust. And I must go to store to look pumpkin ( yes, I watched your pumpkin pure video, too). Here in Finland e.g. Halloween is not so big event, but I like to put a light to my big pumpkin lamp and have some chosts flying in my home and watch one horror movie. Please, can you make one classic pie filling ( chocolate or something, good with your taste)? I need a new kitchen machine also, can you quess what? :) :D Thanks for your videos, they are great.

Hello I am new to your youtube and Love it. Great recipes, good ideas. I am going to try your crust recipe, hopefully it is that easy. But I seem to make thinks very difficult. 🙄 Anyway, my question to you-where did you buy the measurement large spoons. The two that you used for the flour-1 cup & 1/4 cup? If you remember I would greatly appreciate it. Continue with your awesome you tube and we will continue following. Thank You, Emma Ramos

Welcome! I got those scoops from Amazon many years ago. They are made by Norpro. amzn.to/2RWFWjE Just a note though, the set does not come with 1/3 cup. At the time, the listing didn't say what sizes they were.

I like your use of the food processor, but OMG woman! Get a silicone pastry mat!!!! Use it forever and ditch the plastic wrap. In the past I have also used something else to roll out my dough (wax paper), but when I got a pastry mat, I have never needed anything else - it works like a charm. Mine is from Pampered Chef, but there are others available, even from Amazon and they don't have to be expensive. Probably the price of a roll of plastic wrap. Try it... you'll like it!
