Amplified troughs and ridges this late into the year is caused by changes in the Arctic ice pattern compared to 20+ years ago (again, citing accepted science). If you review the annual 'regrowth' patterns (available on the 'Charctic' site), you can see that we are in that stage that used to be about a month prior. More violent Spring weather due to more rapid melt, and longer drier autumn weather- basically an extended 'late summer'- followed by 'October in November' and November in December before the cold asserts itself; our 'new normal'.

Feast or famine seems to become the new normal. I know 30days in a sample set is tiny comparably but the standard deviations must be rather large.
