Hot take: Many of _Oblivion's_ textures look better than vanilla _Skyrim's._ Especially the rock, stone, wood, and metal textures.

This game is going to be hard on him, leveling up is actually really bad in this game (In Skyrim it was bad too, but not as much as in this one). If u lvl up too fast, without lvling skills first, the game becomes unplayable. Enemies do 1- 5 hit kills, they become damage sponges, etc… This is because lots of enemies in the game scale with lvl This is also probably why custom classes are hard for new players who don’t understand oblivion mechanics.

I wish that there was a Combat Level (made based on the Combat Related Levels) the creatures went by rather than the players level. Something like Classic RuneScape. You don’t see a Lvl 100 Woodcutter or Armorer being considered an Equivalent Level of someone who can take on Flame Atronachs or Bandit Chiefs.

It's not so much that the game is poorly optimized for PC but more that it's poorly optimized for modern PC hardware. It ran great on PCs from ~15 years ago, on Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and Windows 7 machines. Windows 7 was the GOAT! Anyway, _Oblivion_ uses DirectX 9 and, I believe, utilizes a single CPU core. It kind of runs like sweaty swamp ass on modern hardware because it's just not capable of utilizing multiple cores and threads. Plus, because we now have so many cores and threads to work with, modern CPUs cores aren't overengineered like old schools cores were and, so, aren't as robust. And it also seems to me that the translation needed to get DX9 working on newer DX12/Vulkan graphics cards seems a bit taxing on the hardware. I don't know if it actually is, it just seems so.

I wish it didn't crash as much as it does sometimes. Very difficult to mod it without breaking a playthrough.

There's a good controller mod that allows the game to use xbox controller, it also has a version that changes the hud to be like skyrim, I can't remember the name of the mod but I know I used it before and it's very seamless, it's great... I can look it up

I just checked my nexus download history, the mod's called NORTHERNUI It has two versions, one that keeps the original ui and one that changes it to skyrim style

There is a mod that makes it unlimited durability lol
