I’m glad you guys clicked the CC. The song title Daechwita means Korean traditional military music so the whole MV is inspired not by karate but by Korean traditional culture. If you like the visual of MV, I’ll recommend to watch Kingdom on Netflix.

*Min Yoongi is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer that goes by Agust D on his solowork.* Yoongi is also one of the three rappers in the South Korean group BTS + one of their producers and songwrighters and goes by Suga with BTS etc. Min Yoongi was a undergroud rapper before joining the company Big Hit Entertainment to be a producer but then became part of the group BTS along with 6 other people when BTS was formed and they make music in all sorts of genres. The BTS members are all different multitalants and the group members all can sing or rap or both and dance and wrights music. But BTS members have a mix of talents like some are well educated dancers in different genras and/or songwrighters and/or producers and/or singers and/or rappers and/or can play different instruments etc etc. *Yoongi still does solowork outside of BTS as both a songwrighter and producer for other artists and sometimes collabs as a rapper on those songs then usually under the name Suga. And he does his own solo music too like this under the stage name Agust D.* The building you see in the MV is a palace and you see him dressed as a king.

'Daechwita' is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of royal military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching. 'Daechwita' is usually played when the reenactment ceremony is held at a royal palace or when they were going to a war in Joseon Dynasty from 14th century through 19th century, the old Korea. All the references used in this MV is from Joseon Dynasty, the former Korea. The architecture of a royal palace and market streets, traditional fashion style such as King's outfits and commoner's clothes in the market streets, traditional musical instruments, and the way Suga is about to be beheaded by the executioner, etc., are all Korean traditional cultural references originated from Joseon Dynasty from 14th through 19th century.

So glad you checked it out....AgustD is to Slim Shady as Suga is to Eminem and as Min Yoongi is to Marshall Bruce Mathers III 💜 and he grew up listening to and loving Epik High and Eminem and others in Rap and Hip Hop 💜as others have said, he is part of BTS and goes by SUGA when with the group and as AgustD when doing his solo mixtapes.... a lot of cultural and symbolic imagery in this one.... he has said that he as the “new AgustD” is there to take out the King (who represents the AgustD from 2016 (when his first mixtape was released) who had become a king.... to start new sometimes you have to get rid of the old....and to stop focusing on the money and the position you have to put your feet on the ground and move forward....☮️

Ya'll say ya'll haven't seen any Korean influences in Hollywood but there are places where you can watch Korean movies and series. A lot of them are so good that it has becomes about 90% of what I watch now. The difference is that now the new (modern) Agust D killed the old Agust D (ancient) to keep in mind that no matter how famous you get you should still be humble. Now a days there are a lot of artists that once they get to the top they become cocky and forget how and who helped them then comes the fall from fame.

BTS MVs are often unexpected. Of course, this was a solo work... but still, same applies. With them, it's always important to have the subtitles. And even then, you might not know what it is 'really' about. That's when I go to the explanation videos. With greater understanding comes greater appreciation.
