actually every male in korea has to serve in military for 20 months before they turn 29, but last year alot of kpop company (except hybe) approach the korean govt saying 'idols need exemption from the mandatory service' saying about BTS as their main reason why there should be no service for idols, when neither bts or bighit(hybe) never talk about exemption or not going to service. So they used bts as a bait for their own gain. later korean govt extented the age of joining from 29 to 30, for those people who got cultural merit award from govt. the youngest reciepient of the award is bts, so only bts got extension, breaking the bones of the other companies dreams. now they are again going at the govt saying 'it is not fair every group doesnt have bts's success', but they themselves has been the reason why bts got 1 year more.

last i read, BTS has to submit a request for deferment (delaying service) - and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hwang Hee said he would support it - but no word yet if BTS members submitted requests yet(?)

about the military line: every Korean male has to enlist in the military by the age of 30 & serve for a mandatory period of 18 months. since bts have contributed so much economic growth & thus served their country in various ways by their influence alone, some Korean ppl think (we non-koreans can not contribute to this discussion since we're not Koreans & can't understand this in depth) bts should be given exclusion from the military service. now bts themselves have *never* asked for an exclusion themselves. they've always said when duty for the country calls, they will serve whenever asked in interviews. the other entertainment companies want to use bts as an excuse to also make the artists under their label excluded from the mandatory service so they don't lose the money their artists bring in. many small & big entertainment agencies had a gathering some time ago (BTS's own label Hybe, then known as BigHit didn't attend this meeting) where they proposed to the ministry of defence for male idols to be excluded from the military service using bts as an example. (thus yoongi's [suga's real name] following line after the military one- those who bandwagon from our fame & took advantage from our name- can be explained as part of this too) this caused a bit of public outrage as the article headlines framed it as bts wanting exclusion & those ppl that think idols do not serve their country as the other professions who are excluded do. BTS are the youngest recipients ever for the Order of the Cultutal Merit that was provided to them by the Korean government in recognition for everything that they've contributed for their country back in 2018 & that is one of the highest honors a citizen can receive. So it was later announced from the result of all companies coming together demanding an exclusion for their idols that idols who have received the order of cultural merit will be considered, (not given) for an exclusion. now those same agencies are throwing a tantrum saying its a "bts rule" bc bts are the only artists who have been able to receive it. ironic how they were the ones who used bts & now are saying that its only for bts. shamelessly asking for things when they haven't been able to do what bts has but want a share in all the fame of bts. that's why yoongi is saying here to stop using my name for ur own gains. I'll go to military of my own will you don't need to tell me if I have to go or not. ppl were also barking abt when will bts enlist bc they want them gone since bts is currently blocking everyone on the charts & awards etc. hope this helped in the context & sorry this is so long!

AMAZING REACTION! Enlisting in the military before turning 28 (korean age) is the law for all korean males but all of BTS haven’t yet. Many reporters or magazines have always talked to BTS about enlisting because their oldest members Jin and Suga are 28 right now and still haven’t enlisted yet. BTS have said that they will all serve in the military when they are called upon by the government so reporters need to stop asking them about it and using their enlistment as a clout grabber. that’s what that line was about in this song. The South Korean government has also given BTS an extension to enlist so they don’t have to enlist until the turn 30 (korean age) because they bring a lot of money into the south korean economy. hope that helps keep up the great reactions! Love your reactions as usual. 1. Their company Bighit we on the verge of bankruptcy They even had staff in some of their mvs. 2. It is mandatory to go into the military. They had a law pass last year that has allowed the oldest jin to stay with them until he's 30 when they will have to go into the military from what I understand.

Suga turned 28 last March also, thereby being eligible for military service as well. i understand that it was partly because of his upcoming military service obligations that he finally decided to get his shoulder surgery done when he did. from what i understand, the members have to apply for deferment, not sure if they have though.

Suga is FIRE when he has is AGUST D head on, he can really let loose on how he feels. When he is angry, happy,sad or mocking you know exactly what he is feeling and saying. One AGUST D Song to listen to is The Last here he talks about his depression and social anxiety the song is emotive, raw, honest, yet at the same time it gives, ( and this is to me personally having gone through my own shit) a feeling of f**k you I'm still standing fire inside that comes from having gone through that.

One of my favorites by Suga is Interlude: Shadow. It's more recent. Also, one of the reasons BTS has done more pop sound in all English recently is they are aiming for a Grammy. We're nominated last year for Dynamite, didn't win. But Grammys promoted their performance on the show a lot to increase viewers. Had them go second to last to keep us watching. Upset a lot of ARMY. The performance was great though.

about the military thing. yes its compulsory for males to go for military enlistment before they are 30 (if im not mistaken). However, bts have been so busy (internationally) and many other groups are hella mad that bts still hasnt been called, all the other fandoms are angry and saying its not fair that they even made petition for the blue house in korea. all the other companys of kpop groups (not including BTS company, HYBE) even held a meeting with gov to suggest that kpop groups to have exception to go for military. the funny thing is they use BTS as main exemplary in that meeting when bts's company is not even in the meeting. Few weeks later, the gov decided that only artists who have Cultural merits (the highest award for artists in korea) can be excluded from enlistment (Which so far, from all kpop groups, only BTS members received cultural merits awards xD) . AND then they rage again saying its not fair lmao. In reality, no bts members/ or even the company ever bring the issue to be excluded from enlistment, and they always say they will go for it when called. how the tables have turned.

Referencing the truly inhumane amount of time they spent rehearsing when they began, 12-15+ hours a day. Jungkook was only 13 when he started training at BigHit, and 15 years old when they debuted as BTS. He's got a line from My Time(2020), "All over the world, rock on--I made my own lotto, but was it too fast? There are traces of loss." That, just, ugh. Your comment about them growing organically is spot on. I feel like thats why BTS is different. They dont do things cause their company told them to do it, they are given the freedom to put whatever on the table as long as it feels right for them. It shows. This is why people are scared of Agust D, he holds nothing back 😂 The rapline are not afraid to call people out. I really want you to react to Interlude: Shadow! It's only Suga and there is an MV to it. It's pure art. Also I wanna say that the sample you hear in the beginning was removed from the official song as it sparked A LOT of controversy. So you won't hear that sample when you listen on Spotify or Apple music. I won't go into the specifics of why that sample caused controversy, you can look it up, but Suga promptly removed it and apologized for it. It irks me that the person who uploaded that lyric video didn't remove it.

7:05 right after the ten zeros on my bank account bar, Suga says “i got a big house, big cars, big rings” which is a double, he’s referring to one of BTS’ debut songs called No More Dream (which you should check out btw). In that song, Suga goes “i want a big house, big cars and big rings, but in reality i don’t have any big dreams”.

Hooo this song is awesome!! I love it! The chorus is heady! I always listen to it several times and rather loudly. A very good song to express your anger. 😅 Suga wrote it when he was mad at someone, but he changed the song for the mixtape because it was even harder before. About the military service, in South Korea military service is compulsory for men, because South Korea is still at war with North Korea. None of the boys have done so yet and a law has been passed to postpone the military service of people who received the Medal of Merit at 30 instead of 28. They received this medal I believe 4 years ago. am not sure. But it's controversial. Some think it should be allowed to all idols to postposer there military service... The culture minister said he would be in favor of a postponement .. because BTS is promoting the country around the world. It must be said that to them alone it brings in $ 3 billion to the country. Military service is required of all men in S. Korea, and they have to start it by age 28. However, the government just passed a law that allows artists who meet certain criteria to delay their service until age 30. The criteria are defined very narrowly so that BTS is currently the only group that qualifies for the delay. Anyway, the law allowed Jin to postpone his service since he just turned 28. Suga is second oldest after Jin, so he would also have had to join soon.

I think it was because of incredibly and unfortunate bad timing - the D-2 was released about the same time when BLM activism in the states were running really high and it was virtually on everybody’s lips. People were hyper sensitive, losing their ability to critically think and this song was totally misinterpreted. The sample was used by many other artists before with 0 problems but when AgustD used it at that time he was suddenly somehow supporting massive genocide of black people. It blew totally out of proportion and BigHit needed to do some kind of damage control I guess. I am pretty sure Yoongi was laughing behind closed doors thinking to himself that people who really got the song got it and those who didnt got the cut version that pacified them. I am still mind blown over hysteria this track created in the fandom.
