I can’t believe all these people think Jake’s going just run through Mike. I honestly don’t think that’s going to happen, I really don’t.
@burdman13332 ай бұрын
It’s not going to happen. Jake is going to desperately try to stay away from Mike and fight him off his back foot. The problem with that is Mike Tyson knows how to close the distance in a very smart and defensively technical way. I truly see Mike intensely closing the distance using his footwork/peekaboo head movement, making Jake miss his counter attempts, Mike doing his quick body shifting technique, then unloading with angled combinations, making Jake Pay in the corner or against the ropes. I don’t see Jake being able to take or survive the force and power Tyson hits him with. I see Jake getting overwhelmed and stopped. Mike is not going to allow Jake to do what he hopes to God he can do, which is surviving Mike’s onslaught, praying he gasses out early, then bringing him into the later rounds and beating him.
@TJuice19862 ай бұрын
@ Jake doesn’t know how to fight off the backfoot that good. He freezes up. Check out the Tommy fury fight. He consistently froze allowing Tommy to land combos off the jab. Mike always fights off the jab and like you said, closes that distance quick. I want to know the size of the ring, because that will tell us a lot. It was smaller for the fury fight (18x18) and I’m hoping the same for this one.

I’m really concerned for Mike here. I played 11 aside football to 39 and continued playing 5-aside a few times a week until 45. I came back to football a few years after and found basic stuff like tackling / controlling the ball just weren’t there - all the timing had gone. Even playing foot golf I got a thigh strain. I’d kept my self fit and continued to regularly train but it’s not the same as playing competitive football. I don’t believe Mike has lived the athlete / boxer life and will gas out very quickly or get a bad injury. Great review as always Henry 👍

I disagree with the "Jake Paul is not a pro boxer" take. Jake is definitely a pro boxer. He's just not a GREAT pro boxer. Anyone with a pro boxing license is a pro boxer. Plus, Jake has defeated two professional boxers with winning records (Andre August and Ryan Bourland); yes, they weren't great, but they were still pro boxers with good, winning records. I agree that he's not the fastest-growing pro boxer, nor is he anywhere near beating an actual ranked pro boxer (Top 15), but he's definitely a "pro boxer" with decent skills who would beat a good portion of pro boxers out there.

Good breakdown, I've watched Jake from his beginnings as a boxer. From him fighting Deji to now, it's been an interesting journey. The thing about Jake fighting Mike, it's more then just money he WANTS to be the guy, the villain, etc. Now from what I remember on Jake's Beter podcast channel Netflix came to Jake and originally it was NOT Mike Netflix suggested that Idea, Paul said there were 3 tiers (I believe it was in terms of starpower or something) and one of them was Tommy Fury. Tommy turned it down for whatever reason (he got hand surgery earlier this year but he has never came out on why he turned down the offer). My BIGGEST problem with Jake is he missed out on so much experience earlier in his career. I completely understand why he went the route with mma dudes but man he easily could've went the Munguia route and slowly build up your record fighting sub par guys but gain proper experience with people who box.

I love Mike Tyson. He is a hero of my boyhood, a legend. This fight should not be happening, it is sooo stupid. About 20 years ago we saw Mike in his last real fight against Kevin McBride. A Journey-Man who should not have given Mike any trouble. Mike did not look good in this fight because Mikes time was already over, back then, 20 years ago. Mike was 38 years old in this fight and a shadow of is former self. Now Mike is 58 of years and 20 years out of the ring. Even if we take his age out of consideration, this is a very very bad situation for him as it would be for any other boxer as well. Being out of the ring for 1 or 2 years is already not a good thing and its hard to come back even for boxers in their prime. But as everyone knows, Mike was not only out of the ring for 20 years, he is 58 years old and I dare to say: It doesn't even matter that he is Mike Tyson. He is an older man beyond his prime who hasn't fought for decades. It's nearly impossible for him to win this fight. I know there was this fight against Roy Jones, but let's be real here, this wasn't a real fight and it did nothing but showing that Mike isn't the old Mike Tyson anymore. Many say Mike held back in this fight but in my opinion one could clearly see that he doesn't have it anymore. Which is no shame at that age, he's had his time. In The fight one could see, all the things that matter in order to put on a hard fight were gone. The sharpens, this perfect timing it takes to really put it on, on someone. The feeling for the perfect distance, maybe even the killer instinct. And guys, this was 4 years ago. Mike is 58 now. Jake Paul is a guy in his twenties. Not very talented, not the best boxer, but he is well trained, he is fit, he is young and he can punch. He's a good enough boxer to take out and hurt an old Mike Tyson. Jake has fought and beaten younger guys beyond their prime.

Jake is either delusional, or a shrewd genius that has now taken the 'Charlie Zelenoff' trolling model to its pinnacle... not to mention, pulling off a fantasy fight with his hero and at a higher plateau than Logan with Floyd. Further, he's gotten a long retired legend to lace em up. Could Jake love boxing enough to take an L in order to breathe life back into the boxing industry?! It honestly saddens me that Jake took this fight. He was actually starting to get respected as a pro boxer after beating Andre August by boxing fans (look at KZbin, Twitter, and Reddit comments). After he took this fight, all that went down the shitter, and he's become one of the most hated figures in boxing by both casuals and experts (like yourself) alike. It sucks, but it is what it is. I really hope Jake doesn't seriously hurt Tyson for Tyson's own sake and so that Jake doesn't become hated by everyone forever. I hope he changes things around after this Tyson fight and starts fighting young, active cruiserweights (like Tommy Fury) and climbing the ranks because that's the only way he can get respect, but I doubt it. He's already hinted at taking a break from boxing after this fight and transitioning to the PFL, which is just a completely bizarre move to me.
