I used to run a club in the 80s. It had a great sound system. It was a detached building so any noise didn’t disturb anyone around. Often, when I opened up, the place was completely empty. I had a tape recording of this song and I would play it on volume 10 on the system. It was mind blowing.

What's so heartbreaking about this is the contrast of the lyric - "touch me...hold me" - with the physical distance between Ingrid and Morten. They never look at each other. There are no cheesy, amateur histrionics, two bad actors mooning over one another with false adoration, and the effect is stunning. The presentation of two lonely people issuing a plea into the night: their need real, their ache without relief. Indeed, life is not like they show it on TV. I, like a lot of people, enjoyed/danced to A-ha back in the day, but these recent recastings of their songs are superior to the 80's stuff. The music and the men who make it have matured to the benefit of all of us. Well done.

OMG, for the first time ever I get to understand what he means by the Sun Always Shines on TV. I grew up speaking Spanish and Crucian (St. Croix - West Indian Creole) and learned English along the way. Always wondered what the heck he meant by the sun shinning on the television. Was he getting sun rays coming through his apartment window and could not see his television. LOL. Now I get it though, things are not always as happy as they appear on television, life can suck and be miserable and lonely. This makes the song even more beautiful now.

When i researched the song, i found this on wikipedia (translated from german) Pål Waaktaar, guitarist for the band, said "‘ The Sun Always Shines On TV ’was written on one of those dreary days. Tears are running down my face while listening to this. I moved to Norway first in 2009. I came back to Germany 2012. Hunting High And Low was my very first cassette which I got from my Nana on my 12th birthday to go with the Walkman my parents gave me. I always preferred this song to 'Take On Me'-- the tension in the opening and that huge synth chorus... a masterpiece. This version takes it to another level entirely with the piano and strings and a duet between Morten and Ingrid... just incredible. Thanks a-ha!

Easily my favorite a-ha song. Growing up with this band in America, where they were largely considered a one-hit band, I considered it a gift to live in a time when we bought albums and listen to a bands "works" and got to appreciate the songs that appealed to us. Причём они совершенно не обязательно соответствуют содержанию песни.Кроме того, песни A-ha невероятно живы и реалистичны. Редкая группа, у которой мне нравятся почти все песни! Думаю, самые приятные моменты в моей жизни связаны именно с музыкой этого норвежского трио. Их песни рождают чувство успокоения и умиротворения. 2년 전 우연히 Take on me를 통해 아하라는 밴드를 알게 됐어요. 그리고 얼마 후 The Sun Always Shines On TV를 처음 들었을 때는 엄청난 충격이였어요. 지금껏 제가 알던 노래들과는 차원이 달랐기 때문이에요! 모튼 하켓의 보컬부터 신디, 기타와 드럼, 바이올린까지 노래의 모든 것들이 완벽하게 조화되었다고 생각하거든요. 노래가 정말 독특하고 제 취향에 잘 맞는 것 같아 그 길로 아하의 모든 노래를 찾아 듣기 시작했어요. 노래 한곡 한곡이 정말로 좋았고 멤버들의 재능이 대단하다고 느꼈어요. 그 흔한 아이돌 덕질도 한 번 안 해봤는데, 아하의 매력에 완전히 빠져버렸네요. 아하를 처음 알았을 때부터 노래 항상 잘 듣고 있어요. 좋은 노래 만들어주셔서 정말 감사해요! 모튼, 폴, 마그네 모두 건강하시길 바랄게요

Watching this series of reworked classics, only enforces how fantastically well written these songs are . Yes they are different to the 1980’s high tempo electric sounds, but none the worse for being acoustic, excellent they are 👍
