The trial in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery continued into its seventh day on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.
Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael's shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.
Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery's death.

I’m still amazed at how when the cop that was on scene heard the gun shots and then came around the corner and seen a guy with a gun and another guy laying dead and never once pulled his weapon and put the guy with the guns in cuffs. They pulled up watched him walk 15 feet into a yard and put the gun down and then asked him if he was ok and offered him water and medical attention and then sat there and let him tell the story all while never even thinking about putting him in cuffs 🤦‍♂️. I’m surprised they didn’t break out the ice chest full of beers and talk football while they were at it. All of the officers should be fired.
@Sports-Jorge

If you put someone in cuffs you have to read them their rights and they might shut up. If you make sure they’re not a threat, be “friendly” and let them tell their “story” anything they say can be used against them. But yes, I understand the double standard you are saying exists.
@andersmessina9745

@@Sports-Jorge this is not true, you can be detained in cuffs without being arrested. If a cop has probable cause that a crime has been committed, like witnessing a guy holding a shotgun and another guy dead on the ground, they can detain you in handcuffs to receive information. It is inly until you are formally arrested that your rights are read and what not.
@Sports-Jorge
@Sports-Jorge 2 жыл бұрын
@@andersmessina9745 Please read current legal precedent. Being in police custody and being questioned requires a Miranda warning. If you are not free to leave and police question you, that can absolutely be thrown out. But if a cop and you are discussing what happened as “a witness” or “a victim” and you volunteer info, then you are SOL. An arrest is not the requirement. Detainment is.

Point is, he shot Aubrey with the round in chamber. Once backed up, pumped the shot gun twice, to shoot 2 more slugs which was intended to finish and murder a man already struggling to breathe and survive. The dead don’t tell. He could make up his own story afterwards.
@archangelvvv
@archangelvvv 4 ай бұрын
100% CORRECT! The first point blank blast to the chest was a mortal wound that blew a gaping hole in the center of Aubrey's chest, but that wasn't good enough for the Travis because he wanted to finish him off just like you said, so he reloaded twice with two additional point blank blasts! There are those who would attempt to contend with this FACT and say that the reason the shotgun got discharged two additional times is because Aubrey was pulling on the shotgun which caused it to discharge! Oh, really! How on earth could that happen when it's required to manually pump the shotgun after each discharge pulling the trigger each time! A physical struggle for control of a shotgun can in no way cause it to spontaneously discharge! It must be manually pumped and the trigger pulled each time!

Then the mother of the victim, Ahmad Arbery went to the black media and it was only then after seeing the videotape, inconsistencies in information provided by LE that the DOJ got involved, reviewed the evidence and took this to trial as it should have been from the beginning. This is not new to black people. To the DA and LE, this young man's life was not worthy of a thorough investigation. They believed the father-son from the beginning. Trespassing should not equal murder and detaining an individual because they look suspicious is not a reason to detain someone. Police even have to have probable cause.

Hopefully this post gets supporters of the Mcmichaels and William Roddie Bryan to think logically. I have a hard time understanding why would someone chase someone if they believe that person has a gun? That doesn't pass the smell test. Regardless if I have a gun or not, if I even think that someone else has a gun, I'm keeping my distance to say the least. Think about that for a moment. Exactly what good did they think could come of chasing someone who supposedly had a gun? Not even the police goes directly up to someone they think has a gun, they keep their distance. That goes to show that they didn't really think that he had a gun or they would have kept their distance. And if they didn't really think that he had a gun, what need is there to approach him with guns?

@@valleyforge1264 It is illegal to give chase "as a private citizen". *Period* It is illegal to create a flight or fight response by chasing someone "illegally" from a residence. As per Georgia Law even if a thief steals a garden gnome out of your/neighbors yard and starts running away while carrying said stolen gnome down the street... it is still illegal for a private citizen to chase a person down, create a flight or fight response which resulted in a thief defending themselves and getting shot in the process. You cannot chase someone down the street brandishing weapons. When Do Self-Defense Rights Not Apply? Stand Your Ground laws do not give a person the right to take the law into their own hands or otherwise leverage the use of force in an unlawful manner. Specifically, Georgia law states; A person is not justified in using force, if that person a) initially provokes the use of force against himself/herself with the intent to use such force as an excuse to inflict bodily harm upon the assailant; or b) is attempting to commit, is committing, or is fleeing after the commission or attempted commission of a felony (define arguable felony); or c) was the aggressor or was engaged in a combat by agreement, unless the person withdraws from the encounter and effectively communicates his/her intent to withdraw to the other person, and the other person still continues or threatens to continue the use of unlawful force. Brandishing a Weapon Think twice before displaying a firearm in a way that may be deemed threatening. There is a relatively fine line between utilizing a weapon for self-protection and brandishing a weapon. Brandishing a weapon is a crime (felony aggravated assault). In a March 3, 2020, article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgia State Senator Harold Jones is reported to have stated, “under current law prosecutors must prove murder is the intent of someone showing or pulling a gun before he or she can be found guilty of aggravated assault.”
