Three Georgia men are set to show up to a Glynn County court Thursday morning in the alleged murder of Ahmaud Arbery, 25. Gregory McMichael, 64, and son Travis McMichael, 34, are both charged with murder and aggravated assault, though the younger defendant is being treated as the actual shooter. William “Roddie” Bryan, 50, is faces a count each of felony murder, and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment. Authorities said he used his vehicle in an attempt to help detain the alleged murder.
Arbery was shot and killed back on February 23 in Brunswick County, but arrests didn’t immediately happen. The first two prosecutors in the case dropped out, citing conflicts of interest centered around the fact that Gregory McMichael used to be an investigator for one of their offices.
The arrests happened shortly after video of the incident was leaked. Alan Tucker, an attorney who is not representing any of the defendants in the crimnal case, has said that the elder defendant helped release it in a bid to get “the truth” out about the incident. But that release backfire, with attorneys for Arbery’s family saying that the truth was that Arbery was murdered. Footage sparked an outcry. Arrests were made.
At the time of the shooting, Gregory McMichael allegedly told people they were trying to confront the man because they believed he was the suspect in a series of break-ins. Arbery’s family has said that he was only jogging in the area.
“Given the daily onslaught over the last several weeks of new information - some credible, some not so credible - you must also know how much work there still is to be done,” attorney Laura Hogue, one of the lawyers who represents Gregory McMichael, said in a press conference Friday, according to CBS News. “But significantly, we know several other critically important facts. Those facts point to a very different narrative than the one that brings you all here today. Those facts will be revealed where all facts that matter are revealed: in a courtroom.”
Bryan attorney Kevin Gough has said that his client is not a “vigilante.”

Now show me where it states that you can aggressively jump out on someone with a gun and then shoot and kill them??? A person is not justified in using force, if that person a) *initially provokes the use of force against himself7herself with the intent to use such force as an excuse to inflict bodily harm upon the assailant; or* b) is attempting to commit, is committing, or is fleeing after the commission or attempted commission of a felony (define arguable felony); or c) was the aggressor or was engaged in a combat by agreement, unless the person withdraws from the encounter and effectively communicates his/her intent to withdraw to the other person, and the other person still continues or threatens to continue the use of unlawful force.

Nah, that's wouldn't have worked because the chase didn't start out that way. Imo, He was trying to say, never mind that we were acting illegal, what about him? He was trying to car jack WBryan! He was angry. He was deflecting or trying to set up that Arbery was simply being detained by "cops" and acted unruly and therefore it's his fault everything went bad. If would have just allowed himself to be detained till cops came, none of this would have ever happened. The lawyer is trying to deflect. The lawyer says, Arbery was getting violent and that WBryan was scared but then Dial shot back and said, oh, yeah, then why'd he continue chasing him?! In the original police report, Greg McM never said that he was attempting a citizens arrest. That came later from the help of his DA friend who was helping to try and cover up their shenanigans. He knew those boys were up to no good.

Did anyone else find this lawyers generalization of us in the south disturbing to gain some sort of familiarity on his clients behalf? @ 43:35 I understand this is probably more common in smaller communities perhaps? It's just not my life experiences to hear this kind of bias. I generally think I'm pretty open and compassionate to everyone. I'm not without fault like any other human being but being a 5th generation southerner and 3rd generation Houstonian I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this for my generation and my children's generation. I know very well this crap exists and have heard the ignorant terms used within my life time but by older generations other than mine. I'm in my mid 40s now so I'm trying to grasp why it could be so hard to see the value in every human being on this planet.

I just never found that as my experience growing up nor something that was taught to me as being an okay way to speak or think. I am grateful for that bc it's such an ugly way to behave towards another human being. And I am very sorry you had to experience that! I know it still exists...I just don't think it only occurs in the south is all and that the lawyer was justifying this type of language bc of the area within the United States this heinous crime occured. Like it excused this type of behaviour or something. It's an appalling defense tactic!

The majority of the defense's questions are frivolous and irrelevant such as were you sitting or standing, exactly how long were you at the judge's home and boarded on badgering. The defense is completely inept tring to mince words to the n'th degree that are not jermain to the case. It's suprising there weren't many more objections or that the judge did not insist the defense refrain from going off on a tangent.
