I wish I had the money to buy this Asus chair. It honestly sounds like something that will change my experience in front of my gaming computer. Right now, I have a Corsair T3 Rush Gaming chair. I got it because I liked the material but didn't realize that the sides of the seat would be hard/bulky. I thought it was going to be soft. I'll continue to use this chair until I wear it out completely.

Got the ROG, testing it for few days now. It's a keeper. Coming from Vertagear Triigger 350 SE. The big portion of the back of the chair and armrests on the sides are truly aluminum coted in gunmetal paint. It is light and looks sick. Also that mesh on the back depending on the light has this nice subtle silver glow. It is really breathable and soft to the touch. Armrests and lumbar adjustment range is simply great. As mentioned they move too easily horizontally though. Same goes for the headrest, moves vertically too easily but it is a minor annoyance if anything. Bottom seat is wide and nice but not comfy, it is on the harder side. You can however seat on it in many different ways without feeling any hard edges. Chair goes properly low and moves smoothly on the floor. For the price (850$ in EU) you get a lot and it is hard to beat. I removed this acoustic panel and it is perfectly ok without it. Still looking nice.

I just got a new batch of the destrier and it seems they have fixed all issues in this video. 1) THe strap with tilt now look correctly, i can send a picture if needed. 2) The armrest does not move forward and back easily and the left to right turning of arm rest now has locks in certain positions 3) The headrest takes a lot more force for it to move now and in general I have to kinda press back on it for it to happen. That is good enough for me. I have a big and heavy head for reference :) 4) with a discount and asus cashback I got the chair for 500 dollars, I dont' think any chair for 500 USD will provide the quality this one does, not even the no-brand ergonomic ones. In Denmark I coudl buy 4 destriers for the price of 1 emobdy with an atlas headrest. There is no way an embody is even close to 4 times the value, even accounting for warranty etc. I am 176 cm tall and weigh 80kg if that matters,

I tested and returned the Amia due to the backrest feeling too hot to me. I'm deciding now between the Haworth Fern or Zody. Seeing this chair from Asus the main drawback is the warranty, for that price is crazy the warranty is only 2 years versus the competition, like come on at least 5-6 years should be the norm. I can't guarantee the customer service since the debacle on their motherboard reported on tech channels like gamers nexus. which leaves questionable customer service practices. Overall I rather go with the proven companies, Steelcase gets my thumbs up, they refunded the return after testing the chair and that left me wanting to one day buy from them another a chair or recommend them to other people. Is great when companies offer such a good service that even if you don't end up buying from them you felt treated so well you recommend them to another potential buyer. If only the Amia did not feel hot :( it was without doubt the most comfortable chair I tried.
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
Aw man sorry to hear the Amia didn't work out, but I know what you mean about the back getting hot. If warranty + customer service is of concern, go with Haworth man. Zody if you want a real mesh back, but I love my Ferns - Digital Knit is softer and cushier, but gonna be a bit warmer. Go with the regular back Fern and they have a great return policy as well, so no need to worry! Just do me (and your wallet) a favor and wait til September 1...and follow my community page ;-) you'll see why there!

I was really considering the Asus after the first review & had found 1 in stock in my city. But it would be a blind buy with no return option. This review really helped.. As amazing as the lumbar sounds, the arms moving about, the lack of bottom cushion, and the fact that I do like to cross my hands behind my head when I lean back, helped me realised this is likely not the chair for me. I'll likely get the TRULY chair as it was pretty comfy
@Kmmc2011 Жыл бұрын
Followup: I managed to test the Asus Destrier today. It's definitely comfortable mesh. Loved the lumbar. But the arms moved wayyyy too easily. And definitely moved every time I leaned on it to adjust my seating position. Unfortunately that's pretty much a deal breaker for me.

I enjoyed the video. I am currently using a Steelcase Gesture and feeling like it's uncomfortable for the amount of money it cost. I've also been sitting in it for about two years. Looking to buy something new and I had no idea that the ASUS chair existed until I saw this video. It's compelling but I'm also a little torn between that and the SecretLab Titan. I was hoping that your video would cover all of the same points and features for every chair you talked about so that even though you're comparing each chair to the ASUS, we could glean enough information to compare the chairs to one another. Unfortunately, I feel like the video isn't helping me decide if the chair I already have is better or worse than any of these chairs.

I got Asus ROG chair 2 days ago and it has 3 issues. 1. Head cushion cannot be locked so everytime you place head and move little down or up is switching instead of being locked in a place. 2. Same with the arm rest. If you hold and move chair on both will move as well. 3. The lower back "cushion" (whatever you call it) you can set how you want is making your lower back sweaty for a longer period of time. Oh and 4th, the below of your "bottom" won't last long because it's really skinny and easily damagable. So about 2-3 years will start peeling off the corner on your left then you'll be left with sitting on a plastic below it. Plus everything is plastic and it's Made in China.
@Volker_A4 Жыл бұрын
the cushion is the lumbar support
@eco999 Жыл бұрын
Agree on 1 and 2 but 3 hardly makes any sense and 4 is just speculations and doesn't make any sense either. Damageable on your left? What? Like no offence but if you sweat on this chair just because of the lumbar cushion then you must be drowning in sweat on any non-mesh chair.
@xXSilentAgent47Xx Жыл бұрын
@@eco999 It ain't "speculation". It's how chairs last. I had previous office chairs and all of them wore off. My previous Corsair T1 Game Chair started to peel off and couldn't raise up nor down anymore. It wore off after 3 years. Everytime i got up i had it all over the floor. Previous chair as well, but difference is the sponge went flat. You didn't understand me clearly because you have problem with comprehension. Lumbar cushion isn't provided to have breathing like having holes on it. Just like on chair. It's like wearing the parka jacket but after a while gets sweaty (in about 15-30 minutes). I have air conditioner turned on with all doors closed, even then i sweat after a while when i'm laying on it (laying my back fully while typing or playing a videogame). Reminds me when i had leather office chair (my 1st chair) and that chair made me sweat everywhere during summer (except on arms). As on left part on corner it's gonna be damaged after a while because just like a wooden bridge it doesn't last long. This is made in China, their products don't last longer than American products. Which is why it's known for all items, including TV's, don't last long.

Been curious to see how the ROG offering compares to others... Especially compared to my Aeron. Credit where it's due - the Destrier is pretty cool looking, but is it more comfy...
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
Depends on what comfort means for you. If it means sitting more rigidly, then the Aeron is not a bad choice. Slightly looser mesh feels nice on the booty, but you lost out on a lot of movement. If you want freedom of movement in your chair and you're ok maybe taking a walk for a bit once in a while bc of the firmer mesh, the Destrier isn't a bad choice for half the price.

One thing to consider for those buying in Europe is that both Haworth and Steelcase here offer a significantly shorter warranty (2 years and 5 years respectively). Only Herman-Miller offers 12 years even in Europe, and wanting a headrest I guess my only choice would be Vantuum, which I feel is not exactly the best of their products. I don't know, buying from Amazon honestly I might end up opting for this Destrier. Eliminating the warranty issues, there is not much on this price range. May I ask if you have an amazon referal that works in Europe? I have to decide between the Gesture and this Destrier, but both I think I would get from Amazon.
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
Damn thank you so much for asking about that! The Amazon link I have in the description will take you to the closest matching result in your local region. If it's not there, not sure if it's on Amazon :-\ Keep in mind that the Embody does have a headrest, but not made by HM. It's the best headrest in the world, as I noted in the video!
@sngcelebi7040 Жыл бұрын
@@Ahnestly Yes, the Embody would probably be the best choice but at least in my country only the Gaming version is available, and adding to that the cost of the Atlas headrest would cost me twice as much as Gesture and Destrier... let's just say that without having a chance to try it out I'm a bit dubious about getting it. I had a chance to try the Aeron and the Mirra2, and I liked both of them very much. Maybe the Aeron seemed to me a tad too aggressive as a lumbar support, but I would have taken it if it didn't cost so much here (2000€ + the price of the Atlas). In any case I will evaluate this one too :), thanks for the assistance! Your link actually takes me to an Amazon page where there are several chairs, including the Destrier. But not to the Destrier directly, so I wasn't sure it worked for that ahah.

The warranty of Steelcase in Germany is 12 Years for the Gesture and some other chairs. Its not that easy as in US maybe with the warranty. Here you have to really read the paper to see which part(s) or complete chairs got 12/5 or 3 Year warranty. The same goes for Haworth. I really wanted to like my destrier... and I tried hard to for almost 2 weeks, but I'm boxing it up today to return it. It just... isn't comfortable for me, despite being mesh it feels really quite hard to sit on, the headrest movement is annoying & isn't in a comfortable position for me in any point (6 feet 0 inches tall) - the armrests moving anytime you do is frustrating and seems like such a simple design flaw to spot if anyone had ever sat on it, but I could've dealt with those 2 things if it were just comfortable for me at its core - but I guess its dependent on what you like, I imagine its similar to the Embody which I haven't tried for reference, in that it "forces" you into a position, and that's your position - its like a car bucket seat, there is little budge in what your seating position can be.

$200 more for 10 years more warranty, says it right there which one to get lol A company that doesn't put a good warranty in their own product hasn't got faith in it to last. I have one question though, the Aeron was the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in for my back, nothing supported my lumbar and my mid back like it. The issue was scooted all the way back into the chair when sitting the mesh would give (obviously when you sit down) and my butt near my tailbone I would feel the hard plastic under the mesh at the back. Is there a solution for this? Going down to a size B fixed this but then I was sitting on the sides of the frame, so it was too small. Size C was perfect (I'm smack bang on 6 foot or a smidge over depending who measures me) and love this chair way more than the Embody (which I tried the gaming and normal variant where the gaming one easily won but still gave me lower back pain) but was no where near as comfortable as the Aeron was besides this one factor which stopped me buying the chair. Would LOVE to know if there is a work around as I'm desperate due to back pain (which it elevated but sitting in it gave me butt pain due to hitting the plastic underneath the mesh as mentioned above)

Any chance you can test the RH New Logic 220 or the older RH Logic 400? It seems to be the most complete chair out there, with tons of adjustments and hight quality. I'm looking for a chair that allows me to work at my Desktop for 10hrs / day. I've tried the HM Aeron Remastered (full options) for 6 months but it was cutting my legs blood flow and developed acute sciatica sitting on it. So I sold it and tried the new Asus ROG Destrier, which I found to have a very good backrest and an amazing lumbar support, but unfortunately the mesh seat chairs seem to be too firm / rigid for my thighs (fortunately the sciatica disappeared once I stopped using the Aeron and Asus ROG, it looks like all mesh seats cut my thighs circulation). Then I tried the Embody, but it lacks a solid lumbar support. I did a very extended and time consuming research and figured out that the Leap (bad cushion / bad headrest) and the Fern (bad lumbar curve, even with the lumbar support) wouldn't be good candidates for me. The Gesture kinda appeals me, but I've read lots of bads review about its poor cushioning (seat), so I'm not sure if I want try it at this point. The RH New Logic 220 looks like the optimal solution, but it costs 2.5k Euros here in Europe, so want to be sure before pulling the trigger.

Hey I recently got a ergo office chair and it’s uncomfortable for me and I think it’s because of the seat depth, I’m used to a bucket seat like my old gaming chair so I sit with my foot like under my thigh so like half cross legged and with this chair it’s not long enough to keep my foot on, my last chair went almost the whole length of my thigh and this one is like half the length, I’m almost 6’1 so I’ve been thinking about getting the xl andaseat Kaiser 3, xl so I have plenty of room for my legs but would you suggest a different chair or maybe I should go with a large instead of xl, and I’ll be sure to use ur link and coupon code lol, thanks
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
Hey! I would say either of those would work, but get the XL size bc the seat depth is longer! If you want a softer seat, the Kaiser 3 is the way to go. If you want a firmer seat and a slightly better lumbar, the Secretlab is the way to go! Hope this helps! Please don't forget to use my link! Helps the channel a LOT!

@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
I don’t have any relationship with BTOD. They contacted me, but it seemed like they they were trying to take advantage of me. They never followed up on my request. David contacted me and was willing to go above and beyond - his willingness to work with me and even help me make videos that might deter potential buyers of his products (used Steelcase chair buying guides) spoke volumes for me that it’s not just about money for him. His company’s reputation proves that it’s not just me who thinks the world of him. So that’s why I trust him/his work wholeheartedly! The Secret Lab not only locks in (3) tilt back positions but it also locks in 8 plus reclining positions until you are in a completely laying flat position. My only grip with Secret Lab and this might be better if I had bought the Titan XL is that the Omega's seat is not wide enough for a bigger person and not soft enough for long hours of sitting. I am retired and a gamer so I might spend 4 hours in one sitting or even fall asleep in my chair. The Omega seat needs more cushion but it has fantastic versatility... lumbar pillow and head pillow. Good video but appears like the chair is not made for bigger people even if it were cheaper.

a flexible backrest is not even that special anymore. I just found a 200euro (!) chair on amazon which is named Holludle or something (actually had their previous chair which was great (amazon used them and slapped their "amazon basic brand on it, the chair was called UMI, lasted pretty long on me considering it had probably a cheaper foam seat than most of the high end chairs, but yea never had any pain with it) and now this newer "Holludle" version now really has all the features. The backrest is even more flexible than the embody chair (btw I had in total 9 or 10 of all the high end chairs you can name for 1000-1500bucks for a few weeks but send them all back again, money never felt worth it and most of the time the high priced chairs gave me more pain then anything else) but yeah besides the flexible backrest (left and right movement, and also has somewhat the same backrest mechanic of the leap v2, where when you lean backwards or into the headset the lower part of the backrest moves as well, like into your lower back to prevent you from slouching with a crooked back. The chair even has a freaking seat depth adjustment with like 3 steps and a pretty spacious seat as well. On top of that, 2d adjustable headrest and also fully 4D (!) armrests for only 200euros lol. Never seen these features on cheaper ergo chairs. The markets going wild. Like the arms feel more solid and not as flimsy as even the arms of the fern...

Fern or Embody over the overhyped ROG Destrier hands down.
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
I agree! I think the Destrier offers an interesting proposition at 1/2 the price of the Embody and quite a bit less than the Fern. When you factor in a $200 headrest for each of those chairs, price difference grows even larger (although the headrests for both of them are WAY better than the Destrier's). Warranty is a huge factor in that price bump, so something to keep in mind!

If Asus believed in this chair and the build quality they would give it more then 2 year of warranty.Have a nice chair life so long it last if you buy it.
@retropunk24 Жыл бұрын
Going to add my two cents here as someone who owns an Embody and tried the Destrier for a week: The gap that the Destrier leaves in the back when you pull the seat forward for maximum depth means if you lean that seat back all the way, you are almost guaranteed to be sitting on the metal frame of the seat and not the mesh, and that frame hurts. I also wasn't a fan of the lack of spots to lock in reclined positions. I will say that ASUS came close and it's still a damn fine chair, but it's below the Embody for me and I'm not giving my Embody up. It's just too good.

I dont have uniform lighting on my shots (most are top down shots at a 45ish degree angle). Therefore, it’s creating shadows on the lower parts of the chair. However, to your point, some people have noted a slight color difference in their headrest. Atlas apparently worked with the same folks that did the embodys backing plastic coloring, so not sure why the slight difference in color.

after trying the fern I'd advise everyone to stay far away from this chair. It feels actually cheap for its price and the overall comfort, back and seat is a joke. The seat is rather small, has a weird curvature that give you pressure points on the butt, a gap in the back if seat is extended (otherwise the seat feels like its' for toddlers and the gap is still there even if you only extend the seat out by 1 step), and the cushion is pretty freaking hard.
