I also love that they get Thrawn so right. And he isn't driven by ego. He doesn't gloat. He doesn't get mad when questioned by allies. Instead, he teaches, he shows, but only as much as he needs to. He's a master of misdirection, and covering all the angles. Thrawn is probably my favorite 'villain'. He's not a cartoony mustache twirling, over the top, "Evil because evil" type. He feels very grounded, and his reputation is earned and deserved. Cool, ruthless, calculating. Just... yes.

13:16-Fun fact? Thrawn actually met Anakin in the Novel Thrawn: Alliances. This was before his exile from his people, and the two worked quite well together during an operation to destroy a factory for Lightsaber-Proof Super Battle Droids that was the result of Separatist collaboration with the enemies of the Chiss. Hence why Thrawn is _immediately_ concerned about the revelation that Anakin was Ahsoka’s Master.
@VegetaLF7
@VegetaLF7 10 ай бұрын
Yep. He knew full well what Anakin was capable of back in the day, he knew that Anakin became Darth Vader and what he was capable of in the Empire, and the fact that his apprentice had survived for so long and been such a nuisance spoke volumes of her skill. Ahsoka is rightfully to be feared by the Empire and it's remnants and Thrawn is no fool, he recognizes just how dangerous she is.

@@Ld.801- just because it wasn’t used before doesn’t make it lame. Being too adherent to what came before, or because FX might not have been practical before, or because “George didn’t use it” leaves less room for innovation later IMO. Me, I’ve always been annoyed that the Star Wars EU stuff about Thrawn that Timothy Zahn did has been invalidated, plus I honestly never cared for the Rebels animated series, but I am glad to see the character used, and I definitely like the characters in this series compared to their use in the animated series. What they’ve done is pretty cool, and the use of the Force as his on,y weapon was actually pretty cool to see.

For what it's worth, I feel the ending of the last episode and this episode demonstrates Ezra and Sabine's relationship and dynamic. Sabine didn't need to spell out exactly what she did to get there. Ezra could already tell that it wasn't good and that she was in trouble. The most relevant parts are when Ezra was asking Sabine how she got the howler and how she found him, and she evaded the topic; saying she just wanted to have a moment to be happy that they were reunited. In that moment, she more or less told him without having to tell him in so many words. Hence why Ezra wasn't surprised when Sabine revealed that Shin and Baylan weren't friendlies. And lastly, when seeing Ahsoka and Huyang, he exclaimed how he was now optimistic about their chances of getting back home again.

Ezra was perfect in this episode! I really like how he fights very much how Kanan fought from time to time (like when they tried to rescue fake Luminara in the Jedi prison) , not using his lightsaber but heavily relying on the force. And it makes even more sense since Ezra has spent like a decade without his lightsaber and only relying on the force for survival so he is very powerful in the force now, able to stand toe to toe against Shin without his lightsaber.

I am surprised by the amount of people that were surprised Ezra wouldnt take Sabines saber considering they made a point to say its Sabines now not Ezras, when Huyang said that I knew Sabine wasnt going to accept that its hers until Ezra said it so I assumed at the end of the last episode that Sabine would try and give her saber to Ezra and he wouldnt take it. Even if they don't believe Thrawn is alive, the secret construction of a MASSIVE hyper-space ring should be more than enough proof to warrant further investigation into how deep the Imperialist conspiracy goes. I feel like Baylan's and Shin's parting of ways is a very smart play by Baylan that also shows he's not a Sith. If they stayed together Shin's betrayal was inevitable as many reactors have noticed. She acts more Sith than him, ruled by ambition and power while he's beyond that. So he acted preemptively and separated before the conflct between master and aprentice even started. I also feel his fight with Ahsoka was out of fondeness for Shin, giving her time to attain her goals.

The thing that makes me "worried" is that, with the departure of the whales, if they don't somehow either get aboard the Chimaera or tag along in the hyperspace ring, they'll all be stranded there... I very recently saw a short that someone made here of a short conversation between Kanin and Hera, talking about training Sabine with the Darksaber. He says that the Force resides in all living things, but she's closed to it, wound up too tight. Kanin: "Too...too..." Hera: "Mandalorian?" Kanin: "Precisely" I completely and totally forgot about that exchange. Extremely smart of Filoni to bring that forward and develop that plot point. Just like Thrawn, he's very adept at playing the long game. I'd love to know more about Shin's background, how Baylan found her, etc. I get that she's confident in combat but confused on a lot of other points, as if you can see The Conflict going on inside. How these two fit into both the whole scheme and whatever dynamic exists between the other really needs to be addressed. Hopefully will be touched on in Season 2. Not a Spoiler, just my guess: I think that Thrawn's cargo is a bunch of Nightsister corpses ready to be reanimated by the Mothers, to be used as part of Thrawn's plan against the New Republic. To me, nothing else makes sense, plus the shape of the cargo might suggest bodies. Finally, I love Ezra only using the Force, as if to say, "Lightsaber? I don't need no steeenking lightsaber!" LOL

Deadass, thanks to this episode, I've been enjoying Ahsoka in the second half more than the first. Awesome cameos by C-3PO & hologram Anakin, and an even awesome reunion between Ahsoka and Ezra. Also, the fight sequences this episode (and series) have incredible. The rematch between Baylan and Ahsoka was brief, but memorable. Baylan and Shin are such mysteries, it's crazy. Much, much better than the previous episode (imo).

Excellent stuff. I really enjoyed your thoughts and analysis. Some insightful stuff! I teared up when Ahsoka told Huyang that "he was a good master" about Anakin, cheered when we saw C3PO, and laughed when Sabine recap'd the OT to Ezra.

No green smoke troopers but its cool theyre just a really loyal, strong legion. Love Ahsoka's demonstration of masters power, offering help. Like Yoda telling Ventress 'strong you are with the dark side young one, but not that strong', and disarms her then tosses her lightsabers back. The name drops were amazing. The Hobbit rock throwing tactics of the Noti are so cool, really nailed that maurader. The two best trilogies in a series.

Definitely felt like Baylan was saying goodbye to Shin. Like whatever he's seeking, he knows it's probably going to mean his end if he summons it. A lot of people predict it's Abeloth, which would be absolutely insane, but would make a lot of sense. She would indeed bring the end to the cycle... along with everything else!

In fairly new to your channel and been enjoying your reviews and discussions on Ahsoka, this week in particular with your thoughts before you watched this episode had me laughing cause I just knew you were in for a hell of an enjoyable episode.. Your definitely one of the best reviewers on youtube (some are quite critical of this show), can't believe next week is the last episode! There's no way they are tying everything up next week.. I'm kinda hoping they don't rush it and come to a cheap ending.. Anyway thanks for posting and I guess I will get your review next week, take care.

My guess? Huyang docks with the intergalactic hyperspace ring before it departs, and Ahsoka and company tag along with them on their way back to the original galaxy, leaving Skol behind in this one to meet whatever lies at the end of his path.

I wanted to let you know that as I was watching the episode and they came out of the whales mouth into the firefight, one phrase popped into mind that should make you proud of your influence on your audience. I thought "I love Space Shit" and it made me smile. I thought that Roasario Dawson killed it even more this week with her performance. I like the new lighter focused Ahsoka and she looks amazing with the white outfit and her movement and facial expressions.

I wouldn't expect much of a clear conclusion come the final episode. I have a feeling we are gonna get some continuation when Mando season starts and then ultimately during the movie that Filoni makes. Remember that Mando is back being a bounty hunter again working jobs for the Republic. Wouldn't shock me if Ahsoka and the gang reach out to him and Grogu

The moment Ezra refused the lightsaber absolutely felt like him just trying to show off to Sabine, the little teasing and not taking it serious. Then going all out with the force push make me think he wanted Sabine to see how far he'd come in the time he was gone.

Yes, characters not telling other characters vital information can be a trope… if there is no reason for them not to. A character not telling us due to personal shame and well established character reason is not the same thing. Even if it was a trope, the mere use of a trope should not be seen as weak writing in itself.

Well, the fact is that if Sabine had told Ezra what was up, he likely would have known that Thrawn's forces would've followed her to him. And he could have prepared for such an eventual attack. As it was, she got one of the Noti killed (or I assume that Noti was killed, due to the direct blaster hit). So to me, it _was_ lazy writing -- specifically designed so that the attack would happen and would catch them unprepared.

Thrawn is terrifying not only because he is a brilliant tactician and a genius, but because he is a gifted leader. He empowers and trusts his subordinates. He understands failure is a possibility (unlike Vader) and treats his subordinates fairly. His followers do not chant his name out of fear, but out of respect. They believe in him. This is not to say Thrawn is a good person with good goals, just a good leader.

The score in this episode is so amazing, i can't wait to hear the entire score from epi's 5-8 when it drops in the next week or two, im loving this series so much, its going to be sad that next week will be the last episode for 2023 in the Star Wars universe. Btw im now convinced that this Galaxy (obviously an homage to the late great Jim Hensons muppets and puppets worlds) im convinced this Galaxy is the Jim Henson galaxy where every creature exists from the Dark Crystal to Labyrinth to Jim Hensons Witches and the Storyteller and even a touch of Never Ending Story, i invision they all exist in this Galaxy 😋 (my head cannon ahh)

Thrawn actually knew Anakin after meeting him on a mission during the Clone Wars. Years later during the days of the Empire, Thrawn and Vader returned to the very same planet on a different mission and Thrawn essentially trolled Vader by hinting numerous times that he knew Vader and Anakin were the same person. If you ever want good reading material, the trilogy containing Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances, and Thrawn Treason is fantastic

I saw the episode, and when C3PO turned up, I reacted just like you. Just sooo happy, and one big smile. Immidiately after, I though: "This is gonna make Angela SOOO happy", and you did not disappoint 😀❤️😀 I thought the episode would be a "filler", because they started out on Coruscant with Hera. But there are just no filler episodes here 😀😀 I loved the episode, and like you I'm super curious for what Baylan is seeking. It's clearly some kind of Force power, that the Dathomiri wants to get away from... Since he is seeking a new beginning, perhaps it's a gateway to the father, son and daughter of The Force... Perhaps a way to kill/neutralize Midichlorians, thus making any force-user a "normal" person... Very excited for that... I think the last episode will see Thrawn return to the "normal" galaxy pretty quick, while Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine are after Baylan... Shin is a wild card, she might try and go after Baylan, having realized she wasn't ready to stand alone. Perhaps she will go with Thrawn... The final episode will end with Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine combining (possibly with Shin), to call the Purgils back, and we see them arrive. With Ahsoka saying something like "now the real battle begins" or something along those lines.... But Thrawn needs a little head start, to rally the remains of the emperial forces....
