Yeah I stopped playing Multiplayer FPS games like 3-4 years ago because I just can't compete with cheaters.

The argument against intrusive anti-cheats was privacy. I always thought this kind of funny in this day and age of having multiple apps on your smartphone google accounts linked with phone etc etc. The average person has no idea what information they've given away already. I'd use a souped up anti-cheat if it truly was preventing cheaters from playing. Much rather go back to the days of 'wow nice shot man gg' as opposed to 'fkn hacker, loser' Pretty much stopped playing competitive fps games two years ago due to this issue.

The privacy argument is more so the "I don't want free remote access tools on my PC," argument. Anti-cheats like Vanguard have ring-zero access. Should a hacker develop a zero day exploit that leverages Vanguard, they essentially have free backdoors into millions of gamers devices. Not to mention that if you live in the US having ring zero always on anti-cheats translates to a backdoor for the NSA that runs permanently. I'd also argue that there's objectively no good reason to have an always-on anti-cheat for any game. The psychology of these types of anti-cheats is such that the average player is tricked into believing the game is more secure than it actually is. If you head over to sites like unknown cheats, there are super advanced cheats being developed for Valorant that are fully undetectable. Insane stuff like having every skin in the game, silent-aim, modded in gun-game etc. I haven't visited those forums in a while but the gist I got from them originally was that Vanguard is good at stopping blatant cheats, but not particularly excellent at stopping "advanced" cheats. Which imo are the ones that matter most.

@@ieternalsyn heads up 99% of the cheats on unknowncheats are detected if they are older than 1-2 weeks especially on valorant. however im glad that you are actually educated on why ring 0 anti cheats are a bad thing, cheating will always be a problem and will likely never have a solution as making cheats brings in LOTS of money

Warzone was like 75% of lobbies had cheaters and rankled, BRO they have free undetected cheats for most games. Also Xim, cronus can also make it look like your on a controller but your on mouse and keyboard. Another huge thing the AI Anticheat video explained was how it would also be possible to not only detect and ban the cheaters, but permanently ban them from any game they play in the future, that part seems a little far fetched but I recommend watching the video. If it is indeed possible to any degree I am 100% for cheaters never being able to touch any multiplayer game ever again in their life, no mercy to cheaters, they should get a taste of what it's like to ruin something for others.

What they said was after a few hours they can develop a profile of how you play the game and that if you bought another account you would be quickly flagged as a suspected dodger and re-banned after confirmation. This would be more for people walling who try and hide it and go for longer periods of time before catching a ban.

@@meandab Idk how I feel about re-banning someone for making a new account. Yes it has its upsides, but i cheated on csgo like 8 years ago and got banned. Since then i have played the game fully legit and rectified my scumbag ways. To be banned 8 years later for something i did even though ive changed my ways just seems unfair. I believe in second chances, no third chances. Will have to wait and see what its like, hopefully its made correctly.

I think the idea of it exists now because people understand that the account is permanently banned but the player can circumvent it. Without that possibility, we will have to redefine what is a fair punishment. For me that is: first offense, 1 year, 2nd offense, your ass is grass, perm ban.

I think an appeal system would certainly be acceptable, likely necessary. The system should be very openly advertised and the consequences very transparent, that alone should deter most, but those that still try to cheat, even after knowing all that their risking in doing so, there's really not much room for sympathy for those people the way I see it, just my two cents. The game devs should have the final say, weather they want to offer second chances. As Nate said I think a big concern is false positives, this will need to be a very thorough system.

I am so sick about cronus being mentioned, completely different, much lesser can of worms. We need to fix the wall hacking and aimbotting first, it's much much bigger and much harder to face. Cronus is a joke, it doesn't give you artificial game sense, it doesn't make you aim quickly and accurately (getting reticle on target). Cronus will help you stay on target if you can track and compensate for bullet lag.

On console there is no consequence to using devices like Cronus. You just make another account and keep playing. On PC if you get banned you have to rebuy the game if the game doesn't hardware or ip ban you in which most cheaters use devices hide that info. Alot of people just care any more, they want to win or do good and that's it. Nobody wants to be shitty or average at competitive games anymore. PUBG, Warzone, CSGO and various others show yall how bad cheating has become.

I think AI cheat detection has great value. It's probably still a hard problem to detect a cheater who knows how to hide it very well, but it's easy to detect somebody who does not care. You can cut away a significant amount of manpower to review gameplays and there is no need to wait for new software patches to detect cheats. Edit: AI cheat detection comes down to how much money it costs to keep a system like that running. If the throughput is bad and you need insane hardware to analyze gameplays, the value is significantly lower. Basically, there is still a chance we might not see this at all, since it's not feasible for most game studios out there.

Completely agree. As to your edit: 3rd party companies are developing it and will be the ones selling the anticheat service to developers. They would just have to offload the server data. The company in homeless' video said it's already being adopted. Just a matter of time. If a shooter has 99% accuracy anticheat and a similar shooter doesn't, everyone will want to play with the better AC. It'll be in any developer's best interest to go with the better tech. If it is of course that much better. Here's to hoping.

It's been 8 years for rainbow six siege and they're finally trying to do something about kids using xim to use mnk. They're calling it "mouse trap" they stated they've been gathering info to tell who's mnk or not. But instead of outright banning these players they're gonna be adding input delay on their controls. But all you gotta do is unplug your xim, use a controller for a bit until it resets. It doesn't go live until year 8, season 1.2 this month. Apparently ....idk we'll see I guess

I'm curious if aim assist will look less suspicious in COD now. Although, I plugged in a controller, played 3 matches the other day and I got called a cheater so probably not. I also wonder how many actual creators will simply disappear. I really feel like walls were way more popular in warzone/MWII than aimbot/cronus/xim/strikepacks as I would just watch people blatantly follow me through the wall on the kill cam. Aim assist is still super powerful, so i'd be surprised if the amount of cheats that got banned increase marginally. It would be interesting to see the metrics.
