Bro you gotta work on new units Ideas: Light infantry: faster than infantry, has better damage, lower health, can be used to flank enemies Skirmishers: Faster than both infantry and light infantry, definitely low health, better organisation (keeps them in the fight longer) , can counter and withstand cavalry attacks Can also hide within forests Riflemen: more lethal infantry and reduces more organization and health for the enemy unit Lancers: More lethal cavalry, reduces enemy health and organization/morale slightly more than normal cavalry not so good option for defense Heavy/Breastplate Cavalry: they are faster and deal more damage when charging downhill, but slower and less damage when charging uphill, they have more tanky health If you feel burdened by this do not worry, im just suggesting, if there are still things you need to finalize than go ahead We'll wait

Light infantry, skirmishers, and riflemen are all almost the same thing, historically. And I personally don't think they should be discrete units because skirmishers weren't a maneuver force you used to flank the enemy, they just scouted and screened forces. Giving infantry battalions long-range, low-damage fire is better imo. Lancers and Guards would be cool and historical though.

​@@roberthansen5727 This is a far better idea. One of the failures of Total War is they made separate units out of troops who usually operated together, like screening infantry and line infantry. In fact line infantry is also trained in skirmish tactics and sometimes deployed as such. Giving infantry battalions somewhat longer range, but very low damage fire is a very elegant abstraction of a complex situation.

It looks like armies can mix their cavalry and infantry together in a massive blob. While I'm sure that situation did occur sometimes, I can't imagine that it was ever effective or intentional. If it was effective, then armies would have been organized along those lines. Just mixing infantry and cavalry together all the time. In this game it looks like a winning move, which doesn't make any sense.

It's because shooting isn't effective enough compared to melee blobbing. If infantry had longer range and more damage from shooting, as well as collateral damage against blobbed up enemies, I think that would help a lot.

i also try to wellington side, and it's not pretty good, i think the best way is to defense, so put all of your army to behind the hill, put all of your cannon as far from the battle (so you can bombard them when the up hill), then try use cavalry to flank and encircle them, at the first try it wasn't pretty good so i think i will do them later

To be fair, it wasn't leaving the high ground, it was more than anything your impatience. You should have let the AI walk more into your positions and maybe concede grounds in certain parts where you can't really reinforce in time. Then it was the use of non concentrated cavalry while fighting with a smaller army. Your attack on the left (your right) was probably going to work and force the AI into a very disadvantaged position in the lowlands by the L type fire line you tried to form. Which could have been protected at its exposed end with cavalry regiments. So, while your aggressiveness could have worked out in the end and it's somewhat admirable. The AI concentrated its forces and then used the breakthrough and debilitating lines your attacks caused to then flank your lines. Withstand your main forces and then take the victory in the end. That said, it's incredibly effective. Like, it competes with that of many Total War mods in the way it keeps its formations and manages to concentrate them. And overall, it looks really fun.

Just started playing the game, haven't made an account, but it wasn't that hard to win as Red here, mostly because the AI isn't very intelligent with attacks. (Defensive Line + Incremental Reserves + Focus Fire Arty + Intentional Cavalry Play is not a complicated counter to brute force, because you can always find a flank to exploit) Maybe it's just not as good on offline mode? I'll watch some more videos, here.

Of course it does. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, organized warfare superficially looked the same because the innovations in tactics and technologies were so incremental. The approximate century from the mid 19th to mid 20th century saw massively more material changes to warfare than the previous two millennia due mostly to leveraging industrialization and economic mobilization at a national scale. Some of the most significant changes were in operational and logistical developments which allowed 17th through 19th century armies to field and coordinate increasingly large armies, but that won't really show up in a tactical battlefield game. You won't directly see the effects of a general staff at this scale.

I think you are too used to medieval battles, the artillery is the main part of your force and the infantry are their to support them. So when you tried to flank the enemy instead of reinforcing the defense of your artillery you screwed up. I did the same when I started playing civil war games. If you flank infantry and beat them at the cost of artillery it is a bad trade. When flanking seek to hit the enemy artillery rather than their infantry. Your infantry is mainly there to protect the artillery.
