It seems like my last comment didn't go through, so I'll keep it a bit shorter: Writing: find out a template that works best and smooth for you personally Speaking: repeat the same template over the course of a week, that way you'll find out your most natural way of wording stuff. Also try to go for different reasons each time to keep it flexible Reading/Listening: Honestly, I just reminded myself to always keep looking for modifiers, as they are the most important and efficient way to select your answers, if needed, write them down in the listening part!

these videos are awesome and I'm sure they'll help a lot of people! :) I've already taken my test, scored 27/30 on writing. a tip I can give from personal experience: try to keep it relatively simple. I like to write in my freetime and thus have a pretty elaborate style of expression, but I think they're looking for something a bit more plain, like how you'd write school essays. just keep in mind that things don't need to be overcomplicated, just clear and concise.

Hello Josh. Thank you so much for your insights. I have been a fan of your channel for a long time and really learned precious stuff. What if we use the following prompt for task one writing: Task1 of TOEFL integrated writing: I will provide you with an “audio transcript”, a “short reading passage” and “my sample response” of the TOEFL integrated writing task or question one of TOEFL writing. You act as a TOEFL evaluator and score me on a scale of 0 to 5 based on the provided “rubric and criteria”. Remember that the “audio transcript” always casts doubts on the main point mentioned in the “short reading passage”. Here is the “rubric and criteria”: 5 score: A response at this level successfully selects the important information from the lecture and coherently and accurately presents this information in relation to the relevant information presented in the reading. The response is well organized, and occasional language errors that are present do not result in inaccurate or imprecise presentation of content or connections. 4 score: A response at this level is generally good in selecting the important information from the lecture and in coherently and accurately presenting this information in relation to the relevant information in the reading, but it may have minor omission, inaccuracy, vagueness, or imprecision of some content from the lecture or in connection to points made in the reading. A response is also scored at this level if it has more frequent or noticeable minor language errors, as long as such usage and grammatical structures do not result in anything more than an occasional lapse of clarity or in the connection of ideas. 3 score: A response at this level contains some important information from the lecture and conveys some relevant connection to the reading, but it is marked by one or more of the following: • Although the overall response is definitely oriented to the task, it conveys only vague, global, unclear, or somewhat imprecise connection of the points made in the lecture to points made in the reading. • The response may omit one major key point made in the lecture. • Some key points made in the lecture or the reading, or connections between the two, may be incomplete, inaccurate, or imprecise. • Errors of usage and/or grammar may be more frequent or may result in noticeably vague expressions or obscured meanings in conveying ideas and connections. 2 score: A response at this level contains some relevant information from the lecture, but is marked by significant language difficulties or by significant omission or inaccuracy of important ideas from the lecture or in the connections between the lecture and the reading; a response at this level is marked by one or more of the following: • The response significantly misrepresents or completely omits the overall connection between the lecture and the reading. • The response significantly omits or significantly misrepresents important points made in the lecture. • The response contains language errors or expressions that largely obscure connections or meaning at key junctures or that would likely obscure understanding of key ideas for a reader not already familiar with the reading and the lecture. 1 score: A response at this level is marked by one or more of the following: • The response provides little or no meaningful or relevant coherent content from the lecture. • The language level of the response is so low that it is difficult to derive meaning. 0 score: A response at this level merely copies sentences from the reading, rejects the topic or is otherwise not connected to the topic, is written in a foreign language, consists of keystroke characters, or is blank. Here is the “short reading passage”: Here is the “audio transcript”: Here is “my sample response”:

Hi there and thank you for the comment. Give it a shot and see how it goes. I do believe however that you will be disappointed by the results since that language by ETS is a bit vague on purpose. I believe it can be done, and we are currently working on internal AI systems to help with grading TOEFL Writing, but it is quite a bit of work along with data to get the type of output you/we are looking for. When it comes to Chat GPT, I would just keep it simple, looking for grammar and vocabulary mistakes and asking for recommendations. Thanks for the feedback though. It's an interesting idea.

@@user-ms3cu1jk2q you will find playlists on KZbin for full speaking and writing tests. Firstly for writing, this channel provided with a document with templates for opening and structure. Use them and a general tip is to use connecting words like furthermore, moreover, etc. Make sure to use a good example to support your point(this applies to speaking as well). Try to keep it as straightforward as you can do not complicate it. Clearly structure your writing as well. Secondly, for speaking I would say the only key is practice. There are full length speaking tests with TOEFL UI on KZbin. Go through as many as you can(20-30 or even more). I speak English fluently but with a lot of slang. Despite this it is difficult to come up with something in such a short time span. Just try and give your best and practice as much you can. Use simple words. Do not use a phrase that is unnatural to you. And for the last time, practice as much you can. Try and record yourself on your phone the first few times for every question and try and analyse where you went wrong. Don’t over analyse on the final day though. Be confident of your preparation.

There is no maximum length for your response, but we find that students who write between 250 - 300 words score higher. Of course, you do not have to write this much and you should not if it hurts your grammatical accuracy, but the length is a helpful factor in boosting your overall score.

*DOUBT* Hey Josh!! On July 8 2023, I booked my TOEFL exam slot which will be held on August 4, 2023. So will I get the changed format (2 hours) or the previous one (3 hours) ? I'm confused!!

You'll get the 2 hours one; The change takes place on any exam after july 26th (including the july 26th ibt exam)

AI is one possible tool to practice TOEFL, but you should not rely on it to craft your answers or fix your mistakes, especially because you will not have it during the test.
