I had a bad time on the left route because the second I got off of it it felt like everything came to a halt, I think regardless of which option you pick it's going to be a rough ride

For some reason when I got to the branching point in AI, I decided "You know what? I'm gonna play this game breadth-first." So I did the first dream bit and then immediately doubled back and did it again the other way, and then proceeded to finish one chapter, then go to the equivalent chapter on the other side. Then when I hit more branch points I just continued cycling through the chapters at each given depth point. Honestly it was kind of a cool way to approach it. I ended up getting the endings in the more-or-less "canonical" order anyway due to the locks on some of the routes, and it was interesting to try to suspend my various thoughts based on multiple semi-contradictory things I had learned in multiple routes.

This game was so fucking weird, wacky and bizarre, but I loved every single moment of it. Honestly a breath of fresh air and I was so happy it got a sequel, which was well deserved. If you guys still enjoy visual novel style games with some puzzle gameplay mechanics spread in between, do give this game a shot. You won't regret it and the pay off to finishing the story is so satisfying.

This game does suffer a tad bit that if you go down the "wrong" paths first you're going to be left a bit confused/disconnected from certain characters than if you had picked the other path first. But honestly, it was such a ride through each route anyways that I didn't personally mind too much, and it was fun looking at it in retrospect. (Also Iris is 18. Just barely legal though so I still stand to protect her at all costs.)

I really like both AI Somnium Files. It's both stupidly fucked up and very intelligent. I didn't know that I care until it kill characters... and then yeah... I cared... a lot. It's kind of the JoJo adventure of video games.

Lol don't go looking for a vaguely sensical experience on this one. The writing is on par with, "Oh, you didn't suspect that every time you looked away, the entire world turned into a box of puppies? Well it did. HAHA GOTCHA." It subverts whatever reason / rational logic it may try to coax you into to "solve the mystery" on every occasion, resulting in total abandonment of all reason by the end. Yeah, why wouldn't Mizuki be able to take on a legion of dudes with guns using only a lead pipe? By the end, you won't even care - trust me.

As much as I liked the original I worry for the sequel. Mizuki was never a compelling character and now she’s the protagonist. I’m just worried though, I’m not hard predicting it will be bad.
