I have to say that the results are pretty impressive. TS cutscenes prove to be difficult due to their combination of animation and real footage while source information is very limited, but results so far are great.

The Tiberian sun ones especially look incredible given what there was to go on. Overall makes me hope for a remaster once Petroglyph has completed Earthbreakers. (also looking forward to that) For Renegade, don't know if we will see a remaster, we have renegade X. maybe that's why they are making Earthbreakers as a proper sequel on the concept who knows. C&C3/4 couldn't really give a stuff. Red Alert 3 only needs the cutscenes, Tim Curry. 'Nuff said.

I hope he's doing well. Found this from an article: "Curry has been slowly returning to public events in recent years following his stroke, which left him requiring the use of a wheelchair. He attended a premiere in 2016, as well as a comic convention in North Carolina in 2019." He did a table reading of Rocky Horror last year I believe It might be possible to mod these in to the games from Renegade onwards, something I'm looking at. I don't think it's possible for TS or earlier though, the games won't support it. RA2 and YR are iffy, but I think the game resolution might be a problem so maybe not. If someone with modding knowledge knows how to make it work I'd happily chuck them the files!

I know that they couldn't find the original tapes for the fmvs for Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn. But I'm now wondering about the fmvs for Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun. Are the original fmvs for those missing also?

We don't know about those, Jimtern hasn't said. I think EA must have had them at some point since we can see a short snippet of a higher quality source for TS in TFD Bonus DVD, and it's possible they were in the stash Jimtern found, there are a few tapes we can see that had Red Alert 2 on the labels. At least for RA2 base game briefings, the quality of the Collector's Edition DVD is very nearly as good at the Masters would have been. TS is possible, and RA2 I think would be most likely since it was the most recent, and was made by Westwood Pacific / EA Pacific so may not have needed to be boxed up from Las Vegas, but we don't know for sure

I'm not sure, there's a lot of cutscenes in each game so it would be quite the undertaking. RA2 and Yuri's I think are feasible? It's pretty easy to convert footage to Bink, but I've no idea how those games might react to having 1080 or 2K cutscenes play, they might just play them at whatever res the games are set to, which kind of defeats the purpose. I've no idea how to convert to the VP6 format the EALA games expect, those game will probably play upscaled cutscenes quite happily, but the format has the video split as .vp6 and the audio as .snd, I've no idea what goes into converting to that format. TS/FS won't be possible, those games only accept VQA, so the cutscenes are already at maximum possible quality for what those games can read and play. Unless of course someone is able to get the games to accept other formats and play those at higher resolutions than the game itself The EALA games are probably the best candidates for an upscaled cutscenes pack, but I've no idea how to go about that. I know that some mods have their own cutscenes though, I think C&C3 The Forgotten might, so it's got to be possible, I just lack the technical know-how to actually get them to play in-game. If someone wants to handle the conversion to VP6 and packaging into a mod that'll play the cutscenes, I'd happily upscale all the cutscenes for that game and send them the files. If you come across anyone who's interested and knows how to do it, feel free to send them my way!

The VQA cutscenes of TS can't be deinterlaced, in order to deinterlace it the combing artefacts need to be pixel-thin, such that each field can be separated into odd and even. The VQA files aren't interlaced, they're progressive from a source that wasn't deinterlaced, so the artefacts are baked-in, and since they aren't pixel-thin can't be deinterlaced. I'm currently playing with a more recent AI model which is trained on interlaced footage (which wasn't available when I did these videos) which appears to help with the worst of the combing, but will take a while to go through. Firestorm's VQAs on the other hand might be deinterlacable, I need to play with those.
