We are investigating the F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo with its intriguing story and features. #fck1 #rocaf #aviation
Why did Taiwan develop a fourth-generation indigenous fighter instead of acquiring one from abroad?
Is the F-CK-1 purely indigenous?
Why did Taiwan cease the F-CK-1's production and buy the F-16 and Mirage 2000?
Does the F-CK-1 have combat value against the J-10s and J-20s of the PLAAF?

Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books, and they tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. In our videos, you can find technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. While the Second Cold War is rising, Let's investigate the weapons together.

@amalsooraj4256
@amalsooraj4256 Жыл бұрын
@@ReviveHF Except for the timeline both Aircrafts are made for different roles and under differing circumstances. While Tejas was developed as an indigenous light fighter to replace the existing Mig 21, F Ck1 was formed as a result of China-US closeness & agreements to limit the sales of military hardware to Taiwan. Otherwise Taiwan has always been a traditional American Weapon buyer which was again evidently seen when they later brought the F16, Some of those orders ever given recently. They definitely did impressive production line with more than 130+ planes, i don't deny that, but its also true that they never had any option other than that either, If you read their history you'll find that after the limited series production, the initial order which was supposed to be given was 256, but that was dropped to present 130 as then taiwan was able to strike a deal for 150 Block 20 F16 from US. Whereas India never had that crisis even in 1980s India operated Mirages and later Mig 29s. Then we hv the aircraft technology itself the first model of F Ck 1 used American AN/APG 67 radar which is a much inferior radar compared to ELM 2032 radars of Tejas mk1 & Tejas Mk1a will hv Aesa radar. Fck1 doesn't hv air2air refueling tejas does, Fck has 6 hardpoints Tejas has 8, Fck1 range 1000 tejas 1800, fck1 weaponry limited to only American and Indigenous, while Tejas can mount Indian,russian & Israeli weapons. All while Tejas maintaining a smaller profile than fck1 in size. Both aircrafts aren't made considering same requirements and therefore different. Its easy to badmouth anything, Now your criticism of tejas probably stems frm its low production rate, IAF already has 30 tejas operational with 10 more will be delivered nxt yr. Plus IAF last yr gave an order for 83 Mk1A versions whose delivery will start frm 2024 onwards. Nations around the globe still uses 4-4.5 gen aircraft in majority& will continue till at least 2 decades, till then Tejas will never be a lost cause, it will continue serving.

What a beautiful aircraft! Based on the design of F-CK-1 alone, it's like F-16 and F/A-18 have a child! Unfortunately,due to political reasons,this aircraft is never exported to other countries. You're probably right. Against newest PLAAF's fighters such as J-20 and J-10,F-CK-1 probably don't stand a chance in a dogfight. But,as support aircraft, especially in air to ground/surface missions,I think this aircraft still can perform formidably and effectively. 👍🏼

Like the new advanced trainer aircraft (T-BE5A Yongying) of the Taiwan Air Force this time, it is not because the Italian M362 and the South Korean T-50 Golden Eagle are inferior to the T-BE5A Yongying, but because of cost and political considerations. It can reduce research and development costs, logistical burden, and revitalize Taiwan's aviation manufacturing industry, which is already on the verge of decline, because one thing must be clearly understood, whether it is F-16 or Mirage 2000, their initial design requirements are to meet the needs of the air force of the manufacturing country , After they came to Taiwan, they needed more time to adjust.

The Swedish Gripen is cheaper to operate than the F16, so I found that analogy intriguing. Yes, more power to Taiwan. It simply has to increase its military budget, but avoid big ticket defense items, and concentrate on asymmetric warfare. Long live freedom-loving countries like Taiwan and Ukraine!

From what I read, we would sell them arms but what we did do is sell them the engines via civilian models and instructed them how to add an after burner to it. We couldn't sell them radar guided missiles and radar but likely helped them design their own. That's what i suspect

The IDF design was under the control of the US government, its internal fuel tank was not big enough to fly over to the mainland. Its engine is from the US. US waited for it to became successful then agreed to sell F-16. The US wanted to see everybody's abilities and stop them before surpassing the US. It is trying to do the same to China but China won't listen.

@H L The problem is that, the country will need fighters than "rescue equipment" as they're probably the only country with no dedicated Multirole Fighter jet as they only have 12 FA-50s, which are smaller than the F-16s. Also, they'll require 3 Squadrons of it as the Philippines' Fighter Wing is somewhat being left out among its South East Asian neighbors in the fighter department, especially that the tensions with its major adversary might come closer than we think, so it's best to gear them up with the best military assets if they're to counter the threat being posed by China and other potential adversaries.

@H L The threat of insurgents will eventually decrease. Also, the armed forces are shifting their efforts in strengthening their defense posture against external threats now as the nation is now in dire need of dedicated main assets for the defense of the nation, which include tanks, fighter aircrafts and utility aircrafts, missile defense systems, surveillance radars, and more warships.

@H L Maybe there's no active external threat at the moment, but it's best for the Armed Forces of the Philippines to be prepared in advance in case of such scenarios, especially that China will pose a serious threat to the nation. Eventually, China will possibly attack, especially how great of a threat they can pose. Whether you like it or not, China is a great threat for the Philippine Armed Forces and to its allies. It's better to prepare than letting ourselves have lots of equipment not meant for countering enemy external forces, as they'll need necessary weapons to act as deterrence against the Chinese forces

The proof that the Philippines had a claim is by an old Spanish era map, which has the Philippines in its domain, which is the great proof which wins the Philippines on its Arbitration Case against China. Also, the issue of the Falklands is a different case, compared to the issue, compared to the South China Sea/ West Philippine Sea issue. So, it's too bad that you're being misinformed by the fake Chinese news.

Anyway, the new AIDC T-5, accurately shown in this video as basically an improved F-CK-1 variant, is supposed to basically replace the aging F-5 fleet. Compared to the F-5, the new T-5 is an improvement. However, it's still an old school 4th gen design and if you look at it next to the newer and far more numerous Chinese fighter jets ... it looks pretty hopeless, doesn't it? But I think the war in Ukraine is forcing a reassessment of priorities. Advanced SAM systems and long range surface-to-surface weapon systems may be more important for Taiwan's defense, rather than trying to compete toe-to-toe with Chinese aviation in the skies. In those areas, Taiwan seems to have good systems.

I just searched on Wiki and B1B's Max range is 12000km (I guess without any weapon load), and 9400Km with 37k lb weapon load, while its combat range is around 5500km. My comment was incorrect. At the same time, Ching-Kuo shouldn't have 5500Km range for sure. 1200Km might be a better number.

Some elder Taiwanese said that US government relaxed restrictions on selling F-16 and Mirage2000 is a conspiracy from US government. Because ROC government reduced output of IDF and bought F-16,Mirage 2000. The most important of all is ROC government cut expenses for developing more aircrafts for ROCAF, and many staffs left for South Korea . I heard ROC want to team up with South Korea to make fifth-generation jet fighter for ROCAF but I am not sure it’s real or not.

The official name of the Taiwanese Army academy is called the Chinese Military Academy. Most Taiwanese high ranking officers are 2nd generation mainlander who don’t see themselves as Taiwanese and they despise pro-independence Taiwanese activists and the Taiwanese language( a Chinese dialect from Fujian province by the way). Back in the 60s, they would get pissed when foreigners called their country Taiwan.

I'm pleasantly surprised to hear my name "Kuo" pronounced correctly. For so many years, I gave up on trying to explain the "kwah" pronunciation. I just tell people "quo" as in "status quo". My father's Taiwanese, but very much hates the KMT, obviously including the F-CK-1's namesake Chiang Ching-Kuo. I remember back before the democratic revolution, for some reason we got a shiny brochure in the mail with color pictures of the F-CK-1 jet fighter. I just thought it was a cool looking jet fighter, but my dad looked at it like ... well he didn't literally spit on it, but I could tell that's how he felt.
