By the way, I literally just sampled the original song, the MPC 2000xl filtering (because you have to detune it to the right speed) and it's "natural" compression just makes it sound big like that.

It’s a core important part of rap. Obviously it evolved away from strictly samples but it was born from sampling old records when producers couldn’t afford anything other than a record player. Sampling is as integral to rap as guitars are to rock
