I’ve said this forever about everything because I’m the type of person that if I become passionate about something I engulf myself in it to the point I don’t sleep. Then when I get great or even good at that said/specific passion, people make it seem like I was just born with said ability and it drives me nuts because I feel it takes away from all the hard work and countless sleepless nights I spent trying to master said craft. This was beautifully put together. Great job again. Big fan here.

Thank you, Aidin! I really needed to hear something like this. At times, I've been frustrated since I can be envious of others, and I've only been recently able to realize how it has negatively affected me. True happiness is appreciating what you have around you and knowing that you can be happy being yourself. If you are not happy, you must work and develop into a person with which you will be happy or change your environment so that it positively affects you. Thank you for this message, Aidin; everyone who has ever felt envious, unconfident, or meek should definitely hear this!

4:03 "Because no one should be deterred or discouraged from doing something because they don't just naturally 'get it,' because the reality is, _no one_ just naturally 'gets it.'" That's deep. I always feel late to the game. I feel like everyone else has it figured out, has the talent, so what's the point of me learning what's already known, what someone else has already perfected, just way later then prodigy, and way less eloquently? But this brought some hope in an unusual way. The truth that they weren't _born_ talented, means therefore, I can seek talent, instead of looking at my imperfect self, trying to figure out "What's my thing" "What's my talent?" When in reality, it's nothing. You're good at nothing. But you have the hope of being good at everything-- because it's practice, not destiny, which perfects the skills we crave to know. And the fact that we're not born talented-- means there's still hope to be so. ❤

Saw something somewhere where they did eye-tracking of professional photographers and non-photographers looking at the same things, and the pro photographers had noticeably different patterns of how their eyes looked at scenes, with the conclusion being that they had taught themselves -- even if not consciously so -- to look at scenes differently, presumably looking for those patterns, tones, etc. in a second nature way.

Why do so many people get the defenition of talent wrong, this video too. Talent isn't something you're able to do from birth or without training. Talent is being able to improve faster than your peers without talent, with the same amount of work. This concept is real, and it matters. It's the reason I'll for example never be a good a composer as Mozart was, NO MATTER how hard I'd work. Of course you're gonna get better if you practise, but this has very little to do with talent.

Great video! I'm a photographer myself and for many years I just went out and took happy snaps and did not think about composition and how to make a photo look really eye catching though I did fluke good compositions from time to time! Since I joined a camera club, I gradually learned about composition and took composition much more seriously and gradually got better and better at it and now I am going out and deliberately thinking about each shot and how I think it will look good an eye catching and I've been getting pretty good reviews for many of my photos at the camera club :) . Seeing photography has been a continuous passion of mine naturally I wanted to learn more and get better at it! And yes along the way even when I was just happy snapping, friends say "you're so talented" and all that. Anyhow your video was well worth watching!

Then I realized how much time I had spent drawing on a blue wall I had a day in and day out. I also don't believe in talent but I don't think people mean that your naturally good at something when they call you talented I think a lot of just mean your good at it and that you can grow talent through hardwork which makes me wonder how big of a deal this really is anymore.
