Moorcroft's notes were also preserved at the Punjab Archives, Lahore aka Anarkali's Tomb. When i saw them in 1990s they were in a state of disarray. Quite possibly some of them were only in the manuscript form and were not included in the edition by Wilson.

Sadly, the entire Punjab Archives is in disarray. I have no faith in the people who manage it. You were lucky because I did not know some of his notes were kept here.

Please also give some detail about how his notes were given a book shape when he died mysteriously in an isolation and when his companions and translator also died. How his work came in the limelight afterward. Thanks

Not all his retainers died. Some from his caravan made it back to India and surely brought some of his belongings with them. This case is very similar to the murder of George Hayward in Darkot and how his notes came to light afterwards.
