That’s because you dont understand aiki. What they are doing is the best way to learn aiki. In Aikido, people learn to control the Ki through the body, not for fighting. If you want to learn how to use these techniques, look for Chin Na. You can see those techniques work well, that you know why Taiwanese Police and army train them. Even in Chin Na, people do not actually hard spar. Same way of training but in Aikido people learn to control the Ki to redirect force and control the body. It is very similar to Taichi, that they use Chin Na techniques, not every Taichi practitioner know how to use Chin Na but if you know how to Chin Na, Taichi is the upgrade. Aikido is similar to Chin Na TaiChi. For a long time of training, you can feel the Ki or Yin Yang, so that you can redirect the force and control human body. So as I say, Aikido is good if you want to upgrade your Chin Na (small grappling) or Judo. Many shihan in Aikido have martial background. I cross trained boxing, Judo, Aikido and Chin Na so I just want to share some experience. Understanding the Ki as the Flow(Tao) in Taoism help you well in many things, body control, talking, thinking, business, etc. Aikido is good to learn. You can try.

@@Oida-Voda "Real Aikido is from and for the acient battlefield. Qick kills with less power." - A quick internet search will prove that false in all points. Aikido is much more modern and also is its term. "It was originally developed by Morihei Ueshiba, as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy and religious beliefs. Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attackers from injury.[1][2] Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy"[3] or as "the way of harmonious spirit".[4] According to the founder's philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness. Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba (植芝 盛平) (1883-1969), referred to by some aikido practitioners as Ōsensei (Great Teacher).[13] The term aikido was coined in the 20th century.[14] Ueshiba envisioned aikido not only as the synthesis of his martial training, but as an expression of his personal philosophy of universal peace and reconciliation. During Ueshiba's lifetime and continuing today, aikido has evolved from the aiki that Ueshiba studied into a variety of expressions by martial artists throughout the world. Ueshiba developed aikido primarily during the late 1920s through the 1930s through the synthesis of the older martial arts that he had studied." [Wikipedia]

As someone who has a father with black belt in aikido, I'm pretty good in karate (brown belt) and martial arts overall.. I gotta say aikido is on a whole other level..my dad beats me up the moment he grabs my hand..people think aikido is only good when someone "follows your lead" the only reason that someone is following your lead is because he has too..if he doesn't your wrist is as good as gone..You seriously can't do anything the moment an aikido dude grabs a hold on you, only way I've seen to beat aikido is when you take it slowly, don't rush and attack first, aikido focuses on grabbing, inflict dmg fast without getting grabbed, the moment you do get grabbed inflict damage with the other hand or any other body part as fast as possible to damage the opponent so that they won't be able to continue with their move or they'd just let ypu go completely

This still seems like an interesting thing to practice, and I'm sure training in anything can be applied to a real fight, it's just about learning how to apply certain techniques in certain situations. I could just picture a badass moment where an attacker is trying to attack you but can't even touch you, and you're just sort of playing around with him (though, you'd definitely be safer combining aikido with another discipline)

In most of these Aikido demonstrations, what is shown is an opponent going at the Aikido master and trying to grab (usually his hand), only to let himself get thrown onto the mat without much resistance, or attempting any other counter moves. I'm not trained in any form of martial arts, but I'm pretty sure that in a real fight situation, after the initial strike (punch, kick, etc), the attacker isn't just going to wait and do nothing when the Aikido master blocks or sidesteps and follows up with a combination of locks and throws. I'd like to see how effective Aikido can be when an attacker aggressively follows up with a combination of punches, kicks, locks, holds and throws (blocks and side-steps included) of his own, to counter the Aikido master's moves.

its not for doing damage. Martial arts is vast and not all is for killing. Its like comparing rap and jazz both are music but vastly different. Even the word aikido shows you its motives. Do means way of and ki means energy breath or spirit. It means way of harmony. Thier motives are not to strike and kill but to defend which is why they use grapples, flips and locks to disenage enemies. They get into locks so that in one move they could dislocate shoulders or snap elbows or break backs due to slamming opponents. It depens on whos using it. Asian martial arts(no boxing mma bjj etc) have very taoist priciples(yin and yang, chi,qi,kigong, chakra etc) are all about peace and harmony as they stem from buddhism, a way of life. It is supposed to promote health,defense, stregnth and wellness not attack and injury like boxing and western combat sports.Some martial arts like tiger style and karate (translation: empty hand) and korean taekwondo(translation:using fists to better the world and defend) are martial arts that exude power and the potential to kill but they are not made for that as martial arts is a way of life and a form of expression through fighting not killing

Wear gloves to punch as hard as they can without damage to their fists. All chinese(and asian but almost all of asia was china for like ever) martial arts are rooted in health serenity and using fighting for stregnth and defense. Don't get me wrong I do have a fascination with aikido and like watching it. The only bad thing is that not a bit of it is realistic and you would rarely have a chance to apply it.

this entire art is supposed to be used against unskilled fighters the point is to use body motion and joint manipulation to get people to stop being dumb. it really does work against somewhat skilled people too not as a main way of combat but its well used in setups because you get pretty much the same reaction all the time in joint manipulation so it helps you get half a step ahead if you know where they are going :)

Seems more like a 'basic training' exercise, wrapped as an upspoken form of Art. Students can observe from a distance. Over time, the moves are memorized. This reminds me of 'oral-tradition' of knowledge, but without any words spoken. As an art, and a lesson; this is why it's not 'fast'.

You gotta love the: "Lol, what if the baddie doesn't want to hold hands?!"-comments. It literally says "Demonstration" in the title. It's a showcase. If applied in actual combat, obviously your goal is to anticipate an incoming punch or kicking and take control of your opponent's momentum, as *demonstrated* in this *demonstration*. That being said, knowing how to deal with getting thrown around without getting hurt is every bit as impressive. Lastly, no, this is not some kind of fine-tuned ultimate fighter "destroy another human being"-martial art. Half of it is about healthy exercise and practice.
@belovedsantoryu45683 жыл бұрын
And the other part is that aikido is not meant to harm your opponent, so it’s completely understandable that can be seen as unharmful. I love doing aikido, the other day I was reading that more than a martial art, is a way of living. Is kind of funny seeing all the comments complaining about it and comparing it with mma
@nx_s2 жыл бұрын
@@belovedsantoryu4568 Yea, there is an entire philosophical and religious system that forms the foundation of Aikido: Oomoto-kyo. The founder was a devout practitioner of Oomoto and put his beliefs into Aikido more and more throughout the years. Therefore Aikido is a spiritual art form.

For people who dont understand aiki.
