Again, nice to watch, works in a school setting, but a few of those methods will fail on the street. Especially true if you must defend against someone who knows how to actually use a knife. Knives up close are far more dangerous that a firearm at the same distance. One mess up and you're dead, even if you are the ultimate master of every martial art.

Incredible, what technique s would be best to use if the person is moving the knife around or in a thrashing tyoe situation. Also, how does one defend against a knife hostage situation. Thank you for sharing this!!
@FreeSalesTips5 жыл бұрын
It works in the same way. Aikido has significant training in controlling the movement of the wrists. The aikido people get significant training in seeing the direction of the wrist movement. They use the aggressor's energy involved in that movement to throw the aggressor to ground or otherwise lock their joints with the threat of breaking the joint.

No you’re not, nor would they attack that slow. A real attack would be faster with both slashing and stabbing coming at random angles. The techniques shown would work in a controlled environment but doubt they’d work in a real fight.✌️

It is supposed to diengage your opponent from fighting because aikido means way of harmonious spirit. They defendnot kill. They do not punch because they solve the conflict quickly.The lead the opponent into positions that in one more is done they could dislocate your shoulder or snap your elbow and those slams really hurt. Asian martial arts unlike the west have taoist principles(ki,chi,qigong breath wellness yin and yang) that are not agressive. The shoalin monks created their kung fu to stop wild animals and bandits that lived in the moantains. They toughen their body for spirit. Some hit harder than others but it comes down to your skill.

Only in the dojo. I was sold on these techniques until I got the proper training. The knife moves about and is hard to catch IMO only the Filipino practitioners do it properly and then you have to spar with a knife just like you would in boxing if you plan to stand a chance against someone attacking you with a knife. No one is just going to hold their arm out there for you to grab it.
@FreeSalesTips5 жыл бұрын
You don't understand aikido because you don't aim for the knife when being attacked; you step off the line of attack and you can manipulate the wrist. No one is just going to hold their arm out there for you to grab it, that's why they don't block the attack and instead they let the attack continue to travel. It is during that time frame that allows the aikido guy to make contact with the body; this contact could be anything which includes the wrist, the attacking arm, the knife itself, the neck, the shoulders.

I've seen quite a few of these videos now but what I don't get Is why the person with the knife let's go of the knife so easily. Also why there are no counter attacks, the knife is in one hand and the other hand is free but he almost throws the knife away and just stands there. Perhaps if we saw this at speed and used a coloured diy to see if there would be any injury while attempting to do such movements. But get someone who can actually hold on to the knife.

I admire but there is a gap in the movement- the stoppage, while the other apply the technique. in reality when one stab somebody the thrust will not stop when it s parried or block but continue. so if the defender did not goes out of the line of force it can be stab.

I study myself aikido for some time (just 1 dan) but I am sorry to say that the techniques we learn are of no use in a real life situation, Moreover, they are really dangerous as they give you a sense of (false) security, because, you KNOW how to disarm a knife... I happen to know a guy who fought as a special commando "operator" - and he also study aikido (4 dan), BUT... the way he does the disarming knife techniques is very different (and, of course, EFFICIENT). Just a common sense advice: search for someone who fought for his life against knife-armed enemies. They do NOT make KZbin videos, unfortunately. Just the fake ones, for reasons as old as mankind: money, fame and, again, money...

it s depend of your talent and the talent of your opposant ! if your opposant are a master of manipulation of knife like fillipine martial art or sillat , you have very limited chance to win and very high chance to die , if your opposant are not a expert and drunk ( because in reality you have more chance to have a fight with a drunkar than a master of knife ) and never practice how to manage a opposant with a knife it s more dangerous than practice it ... it s like the different way of swimming , and you said crowl is bad because you can t go very far with it (and so on...) , but if you don t know how to swim ... it s dangerous to jump in water ... but the worst way to swim is better than know nothing ...

Pretty much every martial artist knows already that you will get cut and have a really good chance of ending up dead or taking a trip to the hospital. Training in knife defence just increases your chance of coming out on top, much better than 0% chance of surviving. We are well aware of the danger.
@sorin_ion81515 жыл бұрын
the way that guy comes with that knife is unrealistic.
@Nicko88025 жыл бұрын
@@fredericthom8113 The thing is that most people who got stubbed by a knife and survived, didn't see it coming as the opposant attacked from a blind spot/behind. And you don't have to be a Silat master to be very dangerous with a knife. One year practicing kickboxing will be enough as you can fight as you usually do (throwing punches, legs etc etc) just with a knife in one hand. True, you have more chances of surviving if you're aikido black belt, but it's not enough. Escape is highly recommended
