She was failed so many times. I agree with what she said (even if it does not apply to her given the conviction) that it's self defense even if it's 100 times society only allows you to be a victim once and a killer after that. She had been with thousands of men and killed 8 maybe just maybe 8 of the 1000s did want to harm her. A experienced street walker would probably know who planed to harm them vs business as usual.

I have one more thing to say, as I've finally reached the end of this recording. Having never been in this position, or anything even close to it, don't think it's possible, or fair, to comment, or to lay blame, or even judgement. Must have been a nightmare to experience, and I have not doubt AW did have these experiences, all her life. But, it is impossible to know what to believe, if she was telling the truth, or just a story. I simply can't tell, and I've been watching all the footage, reading all I can about this. A tragic story, a sad life. Thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been involved, or even touched by this story. I was in Year 10 in school, and remember it well, but I think maturity has increased my ability to work with this one

Just a a little aside to my comment, Aileen Wuornos confessed to documentary filmaker Nick Broomfield that the entire case was just her, "doin' the lyin' biz", and that she murdered those men, in cold blood, had them selected and all. I cannot get my mind around the woman, at all, for saying this. But, I do believe she had destroyed her own soul, long ago, and that she simply could not be honest with herself, or anybody else. My wife and I are mortified, and cannot forgive her for these words. However, having said that, I do tend to believe her initial confession, here, to a degree. I believe prostitution to be the lowest form of work there is. I haven't seen or done it, and I confess to loving women - you could probably label me a lesbian feminist, with a humble Christian upbringing and traditions built in. But, I still firmly believe that Lee deserved a humanitarian representation. Our hearts, unquestioning support and prayers will always go out to each of the victims and their loved ones. Whatever happened out there, it must have been horrific to deal with the aftermath. We pray that each of the victims are at peace

Synopsis Told in her own words, this is the story of serial killer Aileen Wuornos. There have been few female serial killers, but Aileen Wuornos, who was executed in 2002, was a remarkable example of this rare breed of death row inmate. All too often, female prostitutes have been the victims of male serial killers-Wuornos’ killings were the inverse of this pattern... www.goodreads.com/book/show/659549.Monster

The investigators asked some interesting questions, but, I remember hearing that they were not actually fully trained for that role. Also, they clearly were not women, terrified of a man. I felt that the narrator of this made Mr Horzeppa sound sarcastic, or, as if the man didn't quite believe AW. I've viewed the original footage, and, while it appears to be heavily edited, I don't believe the man took this tone, at the time of the interview. Just my opinion

I believe her initial confession came from Lee herself. I don't believe in murder, but I also have trouble accepting the death penalty. My heart and thoughts go out to the loved ones of all who passed away. It ought never to have happened to anyone. However, I do believe that the first person ought to have been on isolation after his first crime. I don't believe there would have been the funds or support to make this happen, back then. Perhaps Aileen Wuornos was deserving of death, but she also had the human rights of all people. Only she would know if she were deserving of true human compassion or understanding. This is controversial, but I'd have liked to befriend her. Great respect to her friend, who was there for her until the end. I don't particularly like the GFs actions, but you would have to have been in her position. I believe she ought to have been responsible for reporting AW from the first, as she could have saved others from being murdered. Lastly, I firmly believe the prostitution and sex work industries need looking at, the world over. We need to understand it, and to work with people to keep them safe, and to help them rise above the industry, and go on to live healthy and fulfilled lives. Banning it does not seem to have worked, but providing services for people with sex problems or addictions might be the way forward. It really is a dangerous industry, and I believe Lee might have had the troubles she described, for real. Borderline Personality, or other disorders, have a very real basis. On her side, I believe she had trouble knowing herself, and being able to process her reality, and to own her self, as it were. This is all true of the bpd experience. Could Lee have been open to therapy? I think it's hard work, but not impossible. Today, I think her trial might have gone very differently. She needed someone who she could trust. I do believe the police were crooked, and that she might have found herself in that very position, without support. She did have a deeply troubled and loveless time in life, I don't care what anybody says. I think her best friend was her angel, and I hope AW is at peace now, wherever she is. I also pray, daily, for the families and loved ones today. Their suffering will never leave them, and my heart goes to them, first and always.

I've commented, and I'll comment again. From extensive research, and the heritage of a faith upbringing, I firmly believe in the humanitarian viewpoint that every person is, ultimately, untainted - good, deep within. With genuine thoughts and consideration for each of the victims and their loved ones, it is clear that crime must be recorded, and due process must be followed, to match the crime. However, I don't actually believe Aileen Carol Wuornos was a bad person, even though she was capable of living an unimaginable life. She needed love and support. I do not support the use of capital punishment in any form, and am fortunate to live in a place where the death penalty is no longer in practice. Yes, there are people who need more assistance than many can or are willing to give. God knows I think of each victim, and each person who loved them. I don't think anything can pay for the injustice of the lives that were lost, the people who were tricked, or the cunning deeds done. But I do firmly believe that an academic and therapeutic body might have compiled a different sentence for Aileen Carol Wournos. It seems that government and leadership works in a different way in the USA. I'm sorry that 'an eye for an eye' is still considered humane today. I'm not sure how the person of Aileen Wuornos would think and feel if she were alive today, but I do think she deserved an honest and open trial. An outcome that suited the crimes. And, for every single person involved, my heart goes out for each and every one of you. I'm certain that this nightmare never ends for you. I do hope my opinion does not negatively affect you. It is just that..a viewpoint. I sincerely hope that the world comes to a point where everyone can receive the help they need, as I was able to overcome social difficulties and anxieties in my life...i never committed crime, but burdens are common to us all. I would hope for every person to have the same opportunities as I did

It's not the feeling sorry for her. It's being able to empathise that the beginning and the most VITAL parts of her life, she was LET DOWN miserably! You can tell as she speaks and responds to certain things, her mind is GONE! Its the damage that's been done, you can hear it spewing out of her. No it does not excuse the things she has done, but she was not born that way she was neglected, abused, had NO SENSE of self worth. IF anyone has any sense, you will know all of her killings were about killing all the men that had abused her in her young life. There is a history of family mental illness, these things are hereditary. Yes, she is a murderer, but NO she WAS NOT BORN like that. Why are people so quick to ignore the things mentioned that happened to her in her early life?????????????????????????? Yes, other people go through things just the same or worse and do not end up as serial killers..... Not everyone's coping mechanisms are the same and not all people can handle abuse and tragedies. This will also be why, others have gone through the same as Aileen or worse and have KILLED themselves. People need to not be so small minded and look at ALL of the facts! Ignore it all you want, she was LET DOWN AS A CHILD! NURTURE IS VITAL FOR A CHILD.
