Primus has a live DVD called hallucino-genetics, it is mandatory viewing if you want to really appreciate what Primus does, it's really a pleasure to watch these guys live. I don't think that Primus has tobe "thrust upon you". Everyone is free to choose to engage with them or not. The only thing that no one has a choice about, is how the experience will affect you. The same goes for any experience, because you won't know until you experience it, how you will be affected. But as far as the "fever dream" aspect; I would say that psychotropic elements were involved in the writing process. So you're not wrong. But when you look beneath the surface, there are layers of meaning to Les' lyrics. Plus it says something when you can take an odd meter and make it groove so naturally.
