My best advice would be: always ALWAYS try on the skate you'll be purchasing and consider it well.I was bitterly disappointed with my first pair of skates. My coach advertised this pro shop as the best thing, like they have such good eye for foot shape etc etc. It is sadly also the only shop in a 200km radius from where I live 🙈 So I went there and they actually don't have boots to try on. They just measure your feet and recommend a pair and you just have to take them basically. I was fitted for Jackson Debuts because they said "we'll recommend them for any adults" and didn't like them at all but couldn't say why, it was just a feeling. When I needed new ones, I did the 200km trip to the next pro shop and ended up with Edeas. I loved them from the first moment and regret nothing 😂😂

That's very odd that the shop didn't have any skates to try on! Sometimes, a shop will have to order a skate in your size but you won't be committed purchase them until you try them on. My guess would be that your coach recommended them because they are the only game in town. You did the right thing by traveling a bit to get your next pair! Best of luck to you!

My mom once got me ice skates for Christmas last year. They were a bit too big on my feet and just plastic (she always said to take a bigger size for thick socks, while you should use thin socks... but she didn't listen to me, lol). When I started working at the ice rink, I've talked to the owner of the building and he said that he once watched me skate. He told me that my skates were broken; his statement made me confused. They didn't look literally broken. We don't have a skate shop here in Luxembourg, but he recommended a shop to me which I'll be going to on Monday. It's in Germany. In overall, I'm very grateful that I asked him for advice. 4 ай бұрын
If you are properly fitted and have impact protecting insoles, you have some protection. The heel itself isn't necessarily "bad" if you are in the best boot option for you. However, the impact of landing jumps can affect your back and joints. That's why it's always best to get fitted by a trusted professional and work with a trained U.S. Figure Skating coach so that you can minimize the risks.

in Europe, Edea and Risport in stock are C, other size (B, D) are ordered and not returned. (the same for the rest of USA bands). :-(. then the important question is: How do you know if the heel is A? There isn't a measure to define if a heel is narrow. my chorus are very soft and I need change them... but I don't have any shop to try
11 ай бұрын
It’s the same here in the US. Standard width is C. B and D are special order. The heel is one width down. So C has a B width heel. This is why it’s so important to get fitted but an authorized Edea tech. They can also custom shape if your heel is too wide.
@susanafernandez376811 ай бұрын
@ in Spain, the fitter doensn't exist. In the shop, they don't mold, they don't measure, they don't have ovens, nor lasts, nor do they fit. They only sell... 🙁 And tables shown the "width" in the ball, but never the width in the heel... I guess that it is a % but... for example I have 9.4cm in the ball and 6.2cm in the heel, according to the risport's table I have a B in the ball, but in Edea it is ok. (however I don't find in the Edea's web the tables). I will continue searching... Thank you!! 😘
11 ай бұрын
I'm unsure how they can be authorized to sell Edea if they don't measure or mold?! The width is measured according the ball of the foot and then the heel can be molded. Shaping is part of the reason to get Edea. If you cannot have them shaped, I would suggest looking at another brand.

I feel like I take good care of my skates and I’ve been skating for 7 months now. I had the Jackson soft skates which my coach recommended I switch out of three months in because of skill level. Then I got the Jackson Elle (I’ve had them for 4 months now) and they are already creased at the ankles and my coach said I need new skates. I can’t buy new skates for 3-4 times a year 🤦🏽♀️😖 and hearing that skates should last about 2 years is unimaginable at this point.
Жыл бұрын
It’s ok to have a crease with Jackson! That just means they are broken in! However, I’d they have lost support they may also be broken down. If it happens that quickly, it’s possible you’re in too large of a size (length or width) or not supportive enough of a boot. We’re you fitted by a professional tech?

In Jackson Freestyles now, and they will work for at least a year more(I will probably reach Freestyle 1 then). They aren’t perfect however. One issue I have is a bit of heel slippage, even when fully tightened, but are otherwise a good fit. What would you recommend to correct that? Also, since I am thinking about upgrades in my next boot, to fit preferences, are there any advantages or disadvantages a low cut boot may offer over a standard cut, when it comes to movement?
4 ай бұрын
That’s a common issue many of my skaters experience in Jackson - heel lifting. I used to experience it with Riedell. However, I’ve not experienced it at all in Edea. It could be the design or specific feet doing better in one brand over another. I’ve had skaters switch to Risport and Edea and the problem has been solved. Lower cut boots can provide for easier/deeper knee/ankle bend. However, they also don’t provide as good ankle support for jumping. That’s why lower cut boots are typically marketed for ice dance. In my experience, Edea provides the same level mobility without sacrificing support.
@bradleyolinger16914 ай бұрын
Would an ankle/tendon combo sleeve work to help the slippage until my next pair of skates, to get me through basic skills? I will look into Edeas at upgrade, but wanted to go traditional initially to be able to develop good fundamental skills before considering another brand. I don’t mind to pay money where needed, but also want to make sure that I also get exactly what I need. I will definitely look into Edea when the time comes for my next pair. Because I am on limited income, I do have to save well in advance.

Hi, I am. Beginner skater who had a weaker right leg compared to the left. I found my new Jackson Elle skate very hard to use on ice probably because of the heel. Is the heel height important? Do you mind to recommend boots with lower hells?
Жыл бұрын
Most skaters and people, in general, have one leg that is more dominant than the other that should not have anything to do with the heel height, though. A boot with a high heel pitch shifts the skater’s weight to the toe picks, and a low heel throws the weight back. I prefer a higher heel, so I love my Edea Concerto boots with John Wilson Gold Seal blades that I have higher stanchions. SP-Teri believes that its heel pitch allows the skater to balance at the center of the blade. They say that the center balance provides an ideal body position for shifting weight. I honestly think it depends on the skater, as I previously wore Riedell boots with blades that had lower stanchions, and switching to Edea with its higher heel pitch and Gold Seals with higher stanchions was a total game changer for me! When considering the heel pitch, you also have to account for the height of the blade stanchions. Have a discussion with your coach and professional skate tech. Your tech can also make adjustments to the mounting (if the blade is not factory riveted), which may also help you if it turns out that the heel pitch is an issue.

Hello Ms. Aimée, I just recently got my first pair of the Jackson Elle ice skates, they do wonders but I have a concern and a question. You said you needed to have your blade slightly adjusted and not perfectly centered. Well, I’m wondering if I may need that too? I found out, due to skating, that I’m someone that naturally stands/walks on the inside of my foot. And so when I skate, the skate leans into the inside edge, will I have to learn to be centered even though it’s not natural for me, or is there something else I can do? It’s concerning because I cant balance on one foot, because the foot I try to balance on is slightly tilted inward. And it makes skating harder I believe.
Жыл бұрын
That's a really common issue. Jackson has an insole that can help you. I did an entire video on it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXqbinmcfsShjqc If you need help beyond the insole, speak with your coach and skate tech as sometimes when blades are installed by the factory they cannot be repositioned - it depends on how they are attached. Skaters that purchase boots and blades separately can have they blades repositioned and adjusted.

Do you mean that you have been fitted for the Edea Overture and want to know if you should be fitted again for a different model? That depends! Were you fitted recently? You should be fitted each time you get new boots, even when it's the same model, as feet change over time and slight differences occur in manufacturing that can also affect the fit. Im doing most my single jumps and overture is more my level howver i skate 7-8h a week, and i have broken my skates wich are overture level rigid (i wear belatis) over the span of this year. I wear coro ace blades. I have started developing haglunds deformity due to the lack of support on the heel of my skates; ive seen alot of people have this issue and switching to edea helped them bc of support. My skates are also creasing at the sides and ive felt that when i land my jumps, my ankle slides from under me and folds weirdly. Chorus would last me longer and better, but im embarassed to wear them bc theyre meant for doubles. Im also quite small, 5'3 and around 110 lbs.

The thing you have remember is that the support ratings are suggestions! So, Chorus is not "meant for doubles." Rather, the suggestion is that they are best UP TO DOUBLE JUMPS. It's also well known that overbooting really isn't a thing with Edea, that's because of the way they are designed which is different from traditional boots. In my experience, Overture is more appropriate for a growing child, Adults, and adult size people, tend to perform better in Chorus and Concerto.I have another video about that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enOTmZ-Ggr6emMk

Aimee, I'm a 65YO Adult skater ready for new boots and blades after skating in Reidells for 20 years. I'm eyeing the Edea's! I want comfort, plus I have an inside rt. bunion, which gives me discomfort after one hour skating. I love the footwork of Moves in the Field (passed Silver) and Figures. I also want to begin the Solo Dance test track, after having volunteered recently at the National competition. Is 'Flamengo' the boot for me for comfort and Dance study, but is it also perfect for Moves and Figures? Two of my friends have 'Flamengo' and love it. What should I do about blades then? I've never had a Dance blade. If I went that route, is the Dance blade great for Moves and Figures, too? Can I still have a regular blade to test Dance? Can I still practice jumps and spins on occasion to keep up my skills? Thank you for your excellent advice!

Many ice dancers wear "non-dance" boots. With any Edea boot you will be able to get the increased knee and ankle bend over Riedell! If you occasionally want to practice jumps and spins, I would look at Edea Concerto and Showgirl I suggest that you try on Flamenco Ice and Concerto and Showgirl boots. For blades, rather than a dance blade, consider synchro blades, which is a hybrid. Or, even stick with the blade you have now because Edea boots require shorter blades! When I switched from Riedell to Edea, I went from a 10 1/4 blade to 9.5 - I went a little shorter than the recommended 9.75. You could also consider the Lite versions of blades such as JW Coronation Ace and MK Professional (if those profiles would suit you). You don't necessarily need "ice dance" boots and blades to do solo dance :) Discuss your options with your coach and skate tech too.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I currently skate on the JW Coronation ACE, but it is 14 years old and says 10". After all the years I'm excited to switch to something else, boot and blade. Perhaps then I'll be able to achieve the choctaw and brackets!

If you stay with a freestyle blade consider the MK Professional (either standard or Lite). When you switch to Edea, you will need a shorter blade. Your tech will advise you of the range depending on the size of your boot. Best of luck!

Continued.... Aimee, I had my appointment at the professional skate shop out of town and was set to try on and purchase the Concerto. I learned they had a bigger toe box, and I have a bunion. Comfort is my #1 desire in a new boot. Of course, the shop didn't have my perfect size. I tried an off size Concerto anyway knowing it would be too big. There was an annoying squeak noise emanating from them every step, every movement. The tech then mentioned she had heard this noise before, when fitting other potential buyers in Concerto. Is this boot noise to be expected in every Concerto, perhaps due to the foam inside rather than mesh? Or was this boot simply a one-off lemon? Maybe other potential buyers happened to try on this same squeaky boot? Is this also your experience with Concerto? The tech then brought out the Ice Fly to help determine what I liked in my heel and ball size. (My current skate is an A heel and B ball.) I left the store to consider this important purchase for later. Thank you for your additional thoughts. Sandy

You are not supposed to walk in Edea boots before the blade is mounted! This is different from traditional brands. So if you were walking in a boot without a blade attached that could be why it squeaked.

If you buy like the Jackson Riste or freestyle boots, do you still need to get fitted or does that come to stock?
9 ай бұрын
Even when you are buying stock boots/skates, you still need to be fitted! Fitting does not mean custom - although you can also get fitted for custom boots. Every skater is best served by being fitted by a professional before purchasing to ensure they are in the appropriate size (length and width) and model for them.

im planing on buying edea wave for inline, will it be good for inline?

Edea Wave is meant for beginners. Depending on your level and body composition, you may require more support.

i have pretty average feet width but my pinky toe is so small compared to the rest of my feet and is squeezed in my current skates because it's like below the toe area, do you have anything to look for in skates/any skates that might not be painful?

Talk to your skate tech! They can punch out areas of discomfort and make recommendations for boots that are best for you!

Edea does not make custom skates. All models and sizes are stock. However, you can have them custom shaped. If your insole is smaller than your foot, you are in too small of a size. Did you follow the instructions to measure? edeaskates.com/en/whats-my-size/measuring/ All measurement methods use millimeters for accuracy as Edea skates are sized at 5 millimeters intervals - not centimeters. You're not supposed to buy the exact size of your foot as you need some room. That's why it's so important to follow the instructions and send your foot tracings to the authorized dealer so that they can recommend the appropriate size in mm.
@rhiisama7336 Жыл бұрын
@ thanks for you reply :" . cause i try searching about edea then i see type D/larger is by request so i thought it was custom. yes i already follow the instruction measure, i draw my feet , i just give them exact my feet in cm ,and the skater seller in my country only help me order from edea, and i know is very bad, cause i tell my size to seller by online also( i dont sent my foot tracing to them). im very regret actually, i wasted alot money :' . and i dont have someone to discuss about this (my parent not support me and no coach). sorry if im comment something not important and i think this my big mistake
Жыл бұрын
@@rhiisama7336 D width is a special order but not custom. It's best to measure in millimeters as that is more accurate. The size that you give them is the size that it sounds like they ordered rather than adding the additional for room - that's why it is always best to provide a foot tracing. Reach back out to them and ask what they can do now. They *may* be willing to work with you due to the communication issue.

@ I've contacted the seller and unfortunately they said they are unable to help as the product is 24cm and hence correct(like i draw witout space). i really thankful you reply my comment, really helpful. i remember you saying "is ok you have small space" , but in other video have some people saying is good to have shoes same like your feet size. but ya i think this communication issue, they only ask me to measure my feet.
