Morgan, can you make a habit of crediting your collaborators. Tasty slide dobro, but no clue as who it might be. Waited to see if there were end credits: nothing. Needless to say, love this. The note of fear, a little plaintive - the singer is saying It Ain't That Easy, but there is a hint it might already be too late. Lot of depth in this, to my ears.

Probably D'Angelo's harmonizing (usually recorded on multiple tracks). That adds the warmth that is his brand - impossible to do that with solo vocals in acoustics.

Possibly the extreme dragging that D'Angelo does in this song, especially in the beginning of the song he's almost uncomfortably late behind the beat which gives it a very unique and soulful sound. Morgan is much more 'neat' and traditional on the beat which gives the song a different feel, which isn't to say it makes the version bad in my opinion. I love this cover because some of the, in my eyes, strong points of the song like the chord progression and use of 'empty space' really shine in the pure guitar/voice combo and these two are both clearly amazing musicians!
