Morgan tried for 2 years to get permission thru Prince's attorneys to cover this song. She kept asking if Prince had heard her recording. She said she just felt like he would allow it if he heard it. Finally, L. A. Reed got ahold of him, he listened to it and didn't hesitate to say yes. Quite the remarkable man he was. soooo talented !

Saw this lady in a Post Modern Jukebox video. I grew up in the 60s as a white kid listening to Motown, and this brought such a smile from me. I will spend some time while working with my headphones playing you tube songs from her and looking for albums I can buy to add to my "I'm having a bad commute day and need an instant boost to get over it" playlist.

Prince has almost never given the rights to cover any of his songs. You have to have the artistry and talent that even Prince would be amazed by. She's got it all and more, and therefore deserved the rights to make this jaw-dropping cover.

Not sure why that myth persists. Prince can’t stop anyone from covering his songs because of Compulsory License Laws. Prince himself lamented this fact in several interviews. He hated Tom Jones cover of Kiss & Sinead’s cover of Nothing Compares to You. He couldn’t stop them though.The most Prince could do was refuse to negotiate a lower royalty than the Statutory Rate.

Morgan, you're a beautiful woman with a Himalayan vocal talent, but this kind of produced music video doesn't show you off to your best, for one simple reason: you can't lip-sync (that's intended as a compliment, actually). In your live videos you can see how the music pours out of you not only through your voice but also through your expressions and your body movements. Here I feel like we're missing half of your performance. Love your music, every video is a gift. Thank you.

Keith Bell Sadly Keith, I'm not so sure that "the industry" would allow that to happen. I'm not saying they're holding her back, but they sure aren't promoting her. I realize the entire way we listen to and purchase music has changed from a decade or two ago. I guess partly because of that I'm as much of a listen to it on KZbin kind of guy or a Pandora guy. But I still like to go out to the music store and buy an album on occasion and Morgan's is nowhere to be found. I'm guessing she's signed to smaller record label. Same thing with Elisabeth Withers. Elisabeth and Morgan are two of the finest singers on the planet, but good luck finding any of their music or albums, at least around here. A local r&b station would play some Elisabeth Withers, but I don't know if they've played Morgan's song at all. Thank God for the internet and Music Choice, which is I actually first came across Morgan. We want Morgan to blast off into the stratosphere, it's going to take a grass roots effort! :)
