Michael Anthony didn't get enough credit for all he brought to Van Halen, and he remained loyal and classy long after they treated him shabbily. I'm glad to see Sammy give him a spotlight.
@DexterHavenАй бұрын
David Lee Roth recently praised Mike on Joe Rogan saying how important his backing vocal was for the sound of the band, saying they didn't have horns, keyboards, etc. So, they filled the gaps with vocals.

Okay, I have to add this since you guys are chiming in..........I drove a limo in LA for two years while getting my degree. i picked up Michael Anthony at his home to deliver him to the Forum for a Van Halen concert. I think it was 1984 but could have been 85. Anyway, not a long trip, but he rode up front with me! We talked all the way downtown. I have been a fan ever since.

You’re 100% correct. Watch any episode of Sammy’s Rock and Roll Road Trip and you can see how he’s revered by everyone. He’s genuinely happy and even more importantly, happy for others. He seems to be an excellent dude and Mike seems to be the same way.
@DesertDawg-oq5fg Жыл бұрын
Eddie’s rift with Michael Anthony started because after Sammy quit in 1997, and Van Halen went on hiatus. Anthony stayed friends with and continue to play with Sammy. they became such good friends that when Sammy came back in 2004, as punishment for being his friend. Eddie forced Mike to sign away his rights to the “Van Halen” brand and take a MASSIVE pay cut for the tour Almost 20 years later, and you’ve never heard Michael Anthony say a word about EVH other than he’s happy, he got to play with his son on stage. Class Act

None of you were there to know what exactly the truth is, or what even really went down. Only Sam, Ed, Alex, Mike, knows the REAL truth and story. So stop with all the things you THINK you know, because most of what you`ve heard is bullsh*t.

Eddie was a guitar god but a complete and utter ass in real life as is his brother Alex. Sammy and Michael will always go down in history as the heroes not the villains in the 1996 and 2004 breakups.

Yes. He got a bad deal especially when you consider that Wolfgang is mediocre at best. Michael’s voice has held up where as David Lee Roth’s has not.

@@tonyvincent9753 Well, he was paid but also disrespected for some unknown reason. Why Was he considered a disposable bass player? He contributed to their sound greatly with his backing vocals. Wolfgang is average at best. I heard his solo songs and it’s nothing I care for. I’m not buying his album. Michael Anthony is a great addition to any band and he seems to be a great guy as well. So I wish him the best. Same to Wolfgang.

My guitar tone, live performances, and recoding's were tight. But just because I didn't write the music I was looked down on. Shame on anyone who ever doubted this mans talent. I've met Mike and got to bullshit about music over a few beers. Short version, Mike loves music with a deep passion, and thus loves his job. No ego, no attitude, just a music junky living his best life. He's the kind of musician that will show up to a Van Halen cover band performance... And come out playing for a few songs.... Simply because he likes playing music that much. To him, playing with The Atomic Punks is just.... Fun Perfect example.... The Sans Halen tour.... Hagar and Roth. Mike wasn't in Sammy's band at that time.... In fact, he was still officially in Van Halen.... But the Phoenix show was his birthday, and what did he want to do on his birthday? Play. So he showed up to the Phoenix show and did some songs with Sammy. As far as I know, the only motivation was .... Fun. That was what he chose to do for fun on his birthday, show up at a concert and play a few songs.
