@MARK ALUN GRIFFITHS I cannot watch this race live. Am always more focussed on the debris of horses and riders after the previous fences than who is actually in the lead. The jockeys are paid to urge these animals over dangerous obstacles- my thoughts are always with the horses who trust those who push them to the limit and beyond.

@@TheGiantKillers Thanks...I'd have thought he would have been stretchered off, but perhaps they didn't know the extent of his injuries at that time..doesn't take long before the horses do a second circuit.

@@Oakleaf700 All fallers, equine and human are treated where they fall and not moved until their injury is properly assessed. It's much more important to do this when a horse falls and people usually assume the screens are up for a horse.

The Grand National should be banned. An enormous display of cruelty to the horses not to mention the great danger to the jockeys. A barbaric throwback to ancient brutal medieval jousting tournaments, which frankly have no place in a civilized modern day society.
