Heheh, they really never stood a chance :D Still, I feel the need to mention a couple of things to put some of those terms and such into perspective, but I'll try to stick to the bare basics of this series. First off, this anime is one of those "protagonist suddenly finds themselves in a new world" series, only it has a rather important twist: the MC didn't come to this new world from _his_ world, but from the World of a popular (dive) MMORPG, specifically, as his own lvl 100 (MAX) Guildmaster PC. As the last Guild member, he should be there alone, however all of the Guild's NPC he and his friends had designed and programmed are suddenly moving around and talking as if they're alive. Now, I _could_ go into some of the intricacies about leveling and character building in this MMO, Yggdrasil, that make it rather unusual and unique, but that doesn't really matter for a basic understanding. The most important thing to note, is probably that the 'common man' in this new world find it all but impossible to rise above what Ainz would consider lvl 30 which they would consider "the best of the best", and it is considered "impossible" for humanity to cast magic above the 5th (of 10) tier (as mentioned in the fight you watched before this one). Ainz, as a lvl 100 Spellcaster, can easily cast spells in this 10th Tier, and considers anything below the 6th Tier as child's play, if that. Now, all this sounds like it's shaping up to be this one, over powered, God-Tier character in the land of Newbs, but there happens to be a catch; with no more game interface or anything, he has no idea how he and his group stand up to any of the beings of this new world, and various events conspire, among allies and enemies alike, to feed "false assumptions" which lead to various misunderstandings amongst all parties, among other things, some humorous, others much more serious. One of the things that works so well in this Anime is that we, as viewers, are not restricted to any one perspective, and generally see the whole story as it's unfolding, rather than the somewhat narrower point of view of the characters themselves.

No, Ainz is SMART overpowered. Thats what I love about this series. Even though almost everything he sees means he can start Thanis-snapping, he procedes at Batman-Prep paranoia levels, to the point where when a surprise does bite him, he is able to overcome it.

Ainz actually wasn't a strongest caster in the game. He had a role-play build and he's heavily relied on his guild members in group pvp.Though he had some experience in a duels. In which he used to use an many cash shop items ;)

In this world - yes, he's a strongest caster. In game - not so. It's stated in novel that he has deliberately made his build with some flaws for the sake of a role play. He wasnt a 1vs1 pvp king, he was more like a strategist for guild.
